Loud boom from wheel area

This morning at a red light, i heard a loud boom. I looked in my passenger side mirror and saw a cloud if smoke (?) And figured the tire blew.
I got out and looked and the tire was fine. I drove and noticed nothing different.
Any idea what exploded?

When i looked in the side mirror i saw the puff closer to the top part of the wheel. My mirror doesnt aim low. I checked the street as i made the u turn and it was clean and smooth (surprisingly).
I think my exhaust is in the drivers side...but still it was higher.
Can a shock absorber just explode? I wasnt really moving.

Before i left work i laid down under my car to see what i can find. There it was,,,a big tear in a rubber thing around the shock. This looks expensive. I looked under rockauto by shocks and didnt see anyyhing that looked like this

Yes,,,I've been searching to find them and havent..seems like a type of air shock that people try replacing with regular shocks.
I'll leave it for now i guess

That's part of the auto-leveling system. I know folks have had issues with leaks from the system, but this is the first I've heard of it exploding. Might want to check to make sure your compressor isn't running non-stop trying to fill the system up......no reason to add more cost to the problem (assuming you keep it, and don't replace with conventional shocks or an aftermarket leveling system).

I read on another forum that they can explode but usually under a lot of weight
