Sometimes, when hooking up my travel trailer, it would be nice to disable/control the auto-level. I'm wanting to put in a dash control that I can use to manually deflate the air shocks and then return them to automatic.
Anybody ever done such a thing or am I going to be the first?
Pulling fuse will NOT deflate rear shocks....it can be done with a scan tool or it could be done (if system is working correctly) by disconnecting rear sensor arm and moving sensor lever down for approx 5 minutes with engine running. This will make car think shocks are too high and bleed pressure.
Why disable it? Can't you just turn the ignition off while hitching and leveling the trailer? That way it won't try to compensate for the hitch load. Once you get the weight distributing bars hooked up and adjusted, the system should operate normally.
Because if the airbags are deflated you don't have to lift the tongue as high to get it on the ball. If the air bags are inflated you don't have to lift the tongue as high to get the spring bars connected. Would be nice to have a switch to manually deflate the bags and then simply put it back to auto for operation after getting hitched.
Turning off the ignition does not deflate or inflate my air bags. It just keeps them at the last height prior to turning off the key. If I let it sit overnight the air bags do eventually bleed down but I'm not that patient when hooking up.
