Okay so as some of you know, I've been working with Greg at PRG Products to source us upgraded Rear Springs which will hopefully combat the rear sag issues and firm up the rear end. If you want more info on that check out and watch what's going on in the Armada Rear Springs thread... Moving on to topic at hand... In my discussion with Greg I was asking him about possible lift kits for the Armada now that Rancho and Procomp have discontinued their lines and we floated a couple ideas around. The result being:

HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN A 6 in LIFT KIT THROUGH GREG (would have a rear subframe from Rancho)?

If there is enough interest and people willing to get a kit, Greg is willing to talk to some of his people over at Rancho at try to get them to run a Limited Production Run. :D

Right now we, Greg and I, are attempting to guage people's interest and get a head count on how many might be interest in a possible group buy.

SO I ask again:

HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN A 6 in LIFT KIT THROUGH GREG (would have a rear subframe from Rancho)?

ADDITIONAL INFO:

We would be looking at pairing the Rancho rear subframe with the front section of the lift kit for a Nissan Titan- since Titans and Armada's share the same front end... You could potential get the parts powder coated any color you wanted ;).... Also at this time unsure what pricing would potentially be. I will be talking with Greg more next week. If you have any questions let me know and I'll pass them along to Greg.

New PRG Rear Lift Installation Problems / Safety Issues

Thanks guys. I appreciate your responses. I hope you are right Grill. Maybe some of these issues are not as serious as they appear. And Kooshtaka, as requested I did send you a PM with my contact information. Please let me know of any news on these issues, good or bad. I am just trying to finish my rig, and keep it safe for my Family.
Thanks again all,
Todd

( Resolved ) PRG Rear Lift Installation Problems / Safety Issues

It’s all good. Kooshtaka got in touch with Greg today. He explained to me how these 4 areas of concern were well thought out and well tested. So, if it’s not there, that is ok. And if it’s different, that was part of the plan also. I am good with that. I appreciated the clarification.
Thanks Kooshtaka! Thanks Greg!

So did this ever take off or what? I remember inquiring about this back in '09 for my Qx56 and gave up deciding it was more trouble than it was worth. I did speak to Greg about it at one point in early '10, and it seemed from our conversation that it was going to be experimental. After talking to Pops about it via PM, considering I wasn't going to be doing the work - it was probably going to end up being a bigger hassle (expensive too).

I've had the same PRG lift with Bilstein Shocks (Total 3.5 inch lift) up front and adjusted level loaded suspension in the rear since '09 and it's been running great. But from my quick scan of this thread, it seems that there hasn't been much headway with this project.

The kit is was put together with the intention of removing the air suspension. Greg tested with that in mind. So yes its for ppl with air suspension also. If u don't want to get rid of the air suspension you can get a drop down brackets. I have the pro comp kit with air suspension. I have no issue at all with my air suspension with the drop down brackets. There are lots of ppl who rip out their air suspension without a lift kit also. To my knowledge no one has said anything about regret doing it.

I searched the forums (albeit quickly), I didn't find any information about removing the air suspension entirely and replacing it with something else. Any posts with more info you could direct me to?

Also, you mention a lot of people running this lift kit. I only see Todd being the most recent one who acquire this specific kit and post about it. Is everyone else that ordered in hiding?

No problems here after removing auto level suspension. Better ride I would say :D

Shock Instructions ( New PRG Armada 5" Rear Lift Kit )

.
Shock Instructions ( New PRG Armada 5" Rear Lift Kit )
.

Which shocks go where:

Since my kit came with 4 rear shocks, of 2 different model numbers, I though I would share the instructional information.

A while back, Greg explained it to me on the phone.

You use the existing shock hardware, for the OEM-location shocks.

And PRG includeds shock hardware installed on the Secondary-location shocks.

I made this little chart to help me keep it straight.

Bilstein_5125_33-186542_NO-BOLTS_Replaces-OEM-Shock

Bilstein_5125_33-185590_WITH-BOLTS_Adds-Secondary-Shock

So to summarize:

No Bolts ( Primary Shocks )

With Bolts ( Secondary Shocks )

Here are 2 pics that show the model-numbers, and also the installed shock-hardware.

I hope I got all that right.

Looking good! How's the ride? Front lifted also?

#604 ·
Thanks guys!
The ride is great.
I also went with HD Moog coils, so there is a lot of new stuff back there.
I had my ProComp/Titan 6” front ( too tall ) taken out,
and just went with 2” PRG mini-lift spacers up front.
Wow, what a steep rake. It feels like driving a drag race car.
Still tweaking.
Probably end up taking out the PRG 2” pucks from the rear ( That will total 5” lift ).
And probably get the Rancho/Titan 4” lift kit, for the front ( That will total 4” lift ).
5 in the back.
4 in the front.
Perfect.
Oh, and also need big wheels and tires!
Maybe like these…

Thanks Pops. Given that information, I think it will be just about right, if I get a Rancho/Titan 5.5" for the front. I'll keep the 5" PRG lift in the back.
And I will always be able to adjust the rear up or down 2", with my PRG spacers.

Hey, I think the prices may be coming down on the Rancho lately.

#607 ·
When you say too tall... what do you mean? Lol

#610 ·
Todd. That looks good... did you have a 2 inch puck up front also?

#611 ·
Did u put the front and rear on at the same time? I see either the front is lifted or the rear is lifted but not both together.
Ps you can send me the 2" front and rear spacers for xmas. :D
Good point. No, I never actually had the front and rear lifts installed at the same time. It does seem strange, but that is how it worked out. And, its given me a good idea how I want the end result:
5" PRG Lift in rear.
5.5" Rancho/Titan lift in front.

I'll keep all 4 mini-lift 2" spacers, just in case I want to use them later.

That's awesome! Got about half of my kit in... waiting on the rest of it.
