What are the symptoms of a cracked manifold? I have an 08 qx56 with 80k and I see a lot of cracked manifold post on here. I want to keep an eye open for this issue. Thanks
I'm conducting a survey on "Titan Talk" forum regarding this manifold issue. I have 60,000 miles on a 2004 with NO evidence of the cracked manifold yet. But so far with 10 respondants, the average mileage for the manifolds to dump
is 77,300 miles, so it would not be suprising if yours have.
Typically the symptoms are a clicking sound which for a while will dissappear after warm up, loss of gas mileage, sulphur smell, small, but noticeable loos of power, and others. You can learn a lot more, and quicker on the titan talk forum, because they have many more members, more members that are mechanics, and because of the most of the solutions.
Stock manifolds at a dealer are about $2,500, and will crack again every 10-15,000 miles The JBA (cali) short headers, Catted B pipes and uprev tune are only about $1,400 ( if you install) and will not crack again ever. It seem that to have a muffler shop install is about another $1,000.
There seem to be a shop in Sacramento, and one in San Diego that are very familiar with the instal procedures.
