I just traded a loaded 08 LE for a 15 Platinum (basically the same truck). All seems basically fine, except the inside of the sunroof seems like it's missing trim pieces.
I took a quick photo (sorry it's so pathetically blurry- it was dark when I was inspecting it just now - the thumbnail is useless, clicking on it shows enough detail).
I don't remember the sunroof seeming so raw on the inside. Small screws showing? It looks like there's a spot for decorative trim pieces to attach on each side of the frame. Looks like it would snap/clip on.
Could anyone with a 15 (or other models) snap a photo of this area of yours so I could compare? I'm sure the dealer will take care of me if I can show evidence of what should have been installed there. I'm guessing it was an assembly issue OR the original dealer (was a dealer trade) tried to repair the sunroof, which seems a bit loud when opening, and forgot to replace the trim when they were done.
Any photos and or insight would be appreciated.
Thanks
Boooo!! Does it bug you? I wonder if those trim pieces are available for purchase. Anyone know a part number? I would have taken them off of my 08 before trading it in!!
To me this is BS for such a Expensive suv. I would like to see what the 2008 trims look like if anyone has photos. I ususally keep the cover closed, my wifes not complaining but I understand the OP's concerns of the Raw look. On a side note whats the best way to protect the sun roofs rubber from drying out, our armada gets hammer from the sun in the evenings.
I noticed that too as I'm 6'3 and my head brushes the moonroof cover. Still doesn't bother me though given the price I paid compared to the competitors!
I have a feeling that the next generation will be much fancier inside, and will probably cost many thousands more.
My wife sometimes has big hair, I was thinking today when she was driving that would hurt like crazy and be a mess if the moon track grabbed it. Looking at the way its made I'm not sure how trim in that area would work . It shoots up inside a good ways. This is the first moon roof I've ever had so its a very cool feature.
I was at the Nascar race yesterday and checked out the GM trucks and Tahoe units on display, Wow the Tahoe is $72000,000 yep that's the sticker on it. This is a sunroof from the new chevy truck.
Our 2015 also does not have the trim. Until this thread, never bothered me LOL. I don't care actually. Well, the wife doesn't care, so that's all that matters!
I agree. The trim ones does look nicer..Instead of seeing the mounting frame. but it is what it is.. Just glad to have a sun/moon roof, it does help with hot air escaping, the stars look cool to.. I would be interested if anyone can come up with a Trim that would hide the mounts..
Yep it does not make any sense, It has square holes on the track where it looks like a grommet or rubber piece would go. Wonder if the part numbers are the same I would get the trim from an 08. I did notice in the GM the moon/sun roof looks like its made into the roof, In the Armada the Sun/moon roof looks like it was an after taught cut out with a saw then trimmed up with a matching rubber ring. The roofs are thicker than on the GM it looks like to me, Our 2010 had the new skin put on from the Trampoline crash but it didn't have the sun roof. The 2015 slide gets marked up easy too. My wife really likes this SUV all the features
and lighter colors. its even help her quit smoking, she now uses the electric sig, we will see once the New wears off. But so far has treated this one with white gloves. Its a sweet looking suv for sure, We looked at a $72K Tahoe at sundays race she did not like it at all. She is hooked on the Armada..likes the Hot rod giddy up..
