What would you be driving if there was no Armada/QX56?

We all know that other SUV's are "No. 2" compared to our vehicles, but I was curious to know what would actually be your number 2 choice if there was no Aramda or QX56. Personally I wanted to go with a 2007 Escalade but the 2.5 person third row non-fold flat seat was a deal breaker. I probably would have ended up with an 07 Navigator. The interior is very nice, and depsite the fact that it gives up so much to the QX in the performance department I still would have probably pulled the trigger. So what would you have done? (Killing yourself is not an option!)

Thanks,
Bryce

I would of gone No. 2 on a Toyota Sequoia, they finely update to a big v8 and a split 2nd and 3rd row seats.

Escalade might have been the choice although the 3rd row design was a big issue for us as well. Likely we would have gotten the Mercedes GL.

The GL450 was one of our options as well. The halfway decent gas mileage (I think 16mpg in the city) was very appealing. But in the end the interior space could not come close to the QX or some of the other full size SUV's. Plus I was afraid of the Mercedes "Stealership" costs for repairs and maintenance, and I knew I could go to the Nissan dealer to get work done on my Infiniti. But for pure driving enjoyment and nothing else being considered I think the GL might get the crown.

I would want a Diesel Ford Excursion. I wish they still made them, the only ones I have seen have over 100k miles and its hard to find a diesel version in good shape.

It would have been the Toyota Sequia or Highlander another option was the Lexus. I don't like the Honda Pilot

I'm very sceptical of North American junk, fit and finish, reliability, styling, warranty

Agreed on both accounts although I don't think that the interior is really that much smaller than the QX. I could be wrong though...it's been a while. Plus I was gunshy on the long-term reliability of the MB and the wife was a little overwhelmed by the interior controls. The QX is very user-friendly.

Nevertheless, there is a "feel" to German cars that is amazing and difficult to describe. I almost picked up an Audi Q7 to supplement the QX. That thing is built like a tank but handles like a sports car. Amazing vehicle but very small on the inside.
