Rear Manual Liftgate

Hi folks,
I got an 08' SE Armada and recently my rear liftgate will not open sometimes.
When I unlock all doors and pull the handle sometimes it won't open. Its as if it never unlocked. That goes for the rear window too...it won't open either sometimes. But other times it operates normaly. Has anyone experienced this and do you know a cause or the solution to this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

sound like your locking mechanism is dying/dead. check the rod and stuff it is connected to, here is a link to courtsey part to see what is inside the rear door.

I've had that happen on a couple of occasions. I think it's been after locking the vehicle with the remote while the door is still open. When ever it's happened, if I start the vehicle and then try the unlock again, everything works fine. Sorry I don't have a better answer!
