dvd burning program/dvd blanks to use

hey guys I finally got the nav2go installed. however, a majority of my old burned dvds (from the import days, everyone had dvd players installed playing music videos of hit songs) don't work at all in the factory system.

previously I've used dvdsanta program to convert it and never had any issues. I now want to burn youtube videos, which I did convert over but the factory dvd player doesn't accept it.

what dvd burning program do you guys use or the blank dvd brands do you use in order to watch music videos on your dvd player?

I convert using mpg, avi or mp4. the burnt discs play in my home dvd player stereo but when I put it into the qx56 dvd player, it says error in reading. just wondering what blank disc brand people are using? as only a few of my burnt discs play in the car, so i'm basing it on blank disc since I've only used dvd santa program to burn movies and videos before...

If some play and some don't then its the DVD u r using. I don't have OEM setup and don't burn movies to disc anymore. I just put them on a hard drive since my aftermarket has a USB port.

UPDATE

I went through all the dvds I've burned previously, and notice it plays only dvd-, not dvd+. so I went out and bought Memorex dvd- and burned some videos from youtube, and now I can finally watch music videos on the navi screen, woohoo...

dvd -r are more widely acceptable than +r. +r is more robust than -r but, as you experience, -r is more compatible.
