Last time I was there was back in the late 80's. Wife and I drove all over and went on a tour in the Crystal Cavern. Be prepared for a 1/4 Mile walk down and then back out after.
We did some other hiking and site seeing while there.
Also drove down to Kings Canyon and looked at the Giant Redwoods. Which by the way, is the largest living organism on the planet.

It does not matter where / what you do, it will be awesome.
If it is hot, then get your hiking done 1st thing in the morning.

LOVE that place!!

Since you're staying the night you will have plenty of time to see alot. Make sure to take the drive up to Glacier point, you can also hike it, awesome views. The mada will handle anything up there. Then there's half dome. There is public transportation to get around that will even take you to some of the sights. Depending on which way you're coming from, there is casino on the way in where you can grab a bite or play a couple slots before heading in. It's about 40 min from the main entrance off highway 41.

It's funny, I live about an hour away from the yosemite entrance but only go maybe once a year. You will have a blast!!

Yosemite is an awesome place to visit, but be ready for the crowds. Highly recommend you leave the Armada parked and use public transportation to visit all of the valley attractions, including going to Glacier Point, or you'll spend half of your time looking for a place to park. Lot's of hiking trails, ranging from easy walks to strenuous hikes; no matter where you go, it will be spectacular.

If you're looking for a place away from the beaten path, recommend you drive out of the valley and go up to the top of Tioga Pass. There really is no place like that, you see a bunch of sights (like, Half Dome from the back side), and also see the Sierra high country. We like to pack a lunch and stop at Tioga Lake and hang out, let the kids go in the water (the water is ice cold, so be ready for that), and relax. Another place we like to go, again to get away from the crowds, is Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.

Sequoia National Park is quite a bit south of Yosemite, and would make a long day trip; I wouldn't recommend trying to do that as a day trip, there are plenty of things to do around Yosemite to fill up all of your time.

Finally, make sure to go over to the Awhanee Hotel and have a drink, or better yet, go have dinner (make reservations, or eat at an odd hour). Simply a spectacular place.

I'm assuming, since you're from San Diego, you will be driving up from the south. Consider going up the west side, through Fresno, but go home over the Tioga Pass, and down the Eastern side of the Sierras through Bishop and Lone Pine; stop for the night in Mammoth if you have time. The drive from there down 395 to LA is probably one of the most scenic drives you'll ever find. Bodie ghost town is also a must visit if you're in that area.

Enjoy.....I'm very envious.

I'm also looking to go to Yosemite. Sometime this upcoming summer (2014) - so that I can see some water falls - maybe raft down the Merced River.

I want to tent camp somewhere in the Valley. Any recommendations? Also where would to go to make those tent reservations - website - or should I call a number?

Thanks in advance!

@ Campfamily - I might be interested in renting a trailer to go camping in. I've never done that but I see that in your picture you have a camping trailer behind your Armada.

Any suggestions on where to rent one from? I live in the Sacramento, California area.

It'd be for just for two adults. So nothing really big. You know bed, kitchen, shower.

Thanks in advance!
