Armada Spark Plugs

130k on my 2007. Bought the truck at 80k miles and suspect that the plugs have never been changed. Red ink mark on tip confirms this is the original plugs...Surprisingly, the plug looks GREAT and the gap is still at the original specification. These are NGK DILFR5A-11D plugs (See Pics). Expensive Laser Iridium plugs used for OEM. Impressive Nissan would use such and expensive plug and impressive it would hold up this well!

So question is...should I order new ones and change them out or just keep running the Originals if they look this good?

Thanks!Click image for larger version

Plugs look great, but they should be changed every 100K miles. Use the same plug as the original.

Yep, if these are factory original then after 80K, a change is due. I personally also check if my MPG has dropped since that would be 1 of the reasons for spark plug replacement. Air filter and O2 sensor should also be part of maintenance schedule. Replaced all 4 O2 sensor on my 06 made good impact on performance.

rajdeep, do you have a good cheap source for the O2 sensors? I suspect there are a couple of them right?

Thanks

Hi, most of them I get on Ebay or Amazon. NGK/NTK or Denso would be preference on any Japanese. Would stay away Bosch(only for European cars). Buying a quality item would pay for itself in gas savings. I never settle for "Like OEM" or replacement products(its a 50/50 chance).

I ended up replacing the original OEM NKG iridium (130k miles) with Autolite Iridium plugs at about 1/3 the cost on NKG. Truck runs great with the new plugs. I haven't been able to determine if there is any improvement in fuel economy...last trip on the originals truck got 14.9mpg...78mph straight highway trip. I will monitor the next long trip to see if any change or improvement.

resurrecting an old thread, but I recently did some maintenance on my truck.
2008 Armada SE
Replaced Struts and Replaced Serpentine Belt (Tips courtesy of Club Armada)
I have about 80K miles and would like to replace my spark plugs.
OEM says NGK Laser Iridium, but they're like $20/pc
I see some getting away with NGK Iridium (non laser), or even NGK Platinum Laser. Any reason why I shouldnt go with the cheaper plugs?
NGK Iridium (non laser) I can get for cheap
NGK Platinum Laser - I can get for pretty cheap

I read in 08 and up they changed something which calls for these Laser Iridium Spark Plugs? maybe not?

For those with an 08+ which plugs did you swap with?

Are you in Houston? LOL, if so I am sending you a PM right away.

I want to do a lot fo stuffs on my Armada, but wish someone could help me out.

I just bought my spark plugs and serpentine belt. I figured since the OEM wants have lasted for so long then they are good, so sticking to OEM for those parts. I bought both from ebay at a little better price than the dealership.

I am sticking to some oem parts, while for fluids, I want to go to Amsoil.

Sorry I can't answer your question about other spark plugs because I prefer to stick to OEM.

My truck has 102,000 miles and the spark plugs have never been changed and the car starts right up with no hesitation. So, I figure if it lasted for 100,000 miles and has always performed great, then I don't mind spending for the OEM to guarantee my mind that it is good for another 100,000 miles.

Oh well, PM coming your way...

My Build/Maintenance/Modification thread..., Aiming for 250K on odometer.

Mine is still running great on the Autolite Iridium XP plugs I installed in December. I have not had a chance to measure MPG since install - its my wife's truck so I don't get much chance to drive it long enough to experiment!

Thought I'd share some info. I contacted a local dealership and they said that Laser platinum performs better with our V8 engine. The iridium is not made for it. This is what my Nissan dealership parts guy suggested. Thoughts?
