Your alternator works similar to a 2/3 stage charger. Bulk (battery < 95%), absorption (battery holding at 95%), and float (battery is > 95% . When the battery is needed for heavy loads and discharged more than 95% the output will be 14.2-14.6. Similar to absorption stage when the battery is not heavily taxed and the battery is at a state of charge around 95% you will see voltage around 13.2. and even less. Your fine and what you are seeing is normal.
When you consistently see much higher voltage for long periods in the range of 14.2-14.6 it is a sign your battery is becoming weak. A fresh strong battery will show lower charge rates.
