Has anyone installed an intake on their 2nd gen yet? Specifically anyone try out the Injen or K&N yet? Coming from years in the Evo and STi world, the mod bug still hits strong.

Hi, yes a few members have—myself included.

Ive a 2nd gen qx (2012) and i have had a K&n cai on it for the last 2 ish years. actually ive the first CAI K&n made for these cars because they used my car to design it.

The v8 in these cars begs to be opened up! All I’ve done is removed the resonator in back, added a manga flow and this cai and I’m pretty happy with just those simple results!

I had an aFe GT CAI (dry) on my QX80. The overall fit, finish and construction of their kit is the best out there. A co-worker recently bought a ‘13 QX56 and installed the Injen CAI and it needs improvement. The plastic is much softer than the aFe and it takes up more space in the engine bay. In other words, you can’t access the back of the headlights if needed and would have to remove the kit entirely. Also, it has no slot on the box for the breather hose of the front differential to attach to. I regret selling the aFe but only because of a possible upgrade where I wouldn’t be able to utilize the aFe.
Another plus with the aFe besides the obvious performance gains, it’s also 50 state carb legal.

I have the complete cold air intake from K&N installed on my 2017 Armada. It took almost no time to install. I've not had any problems with mine, but I've been using K&N's CAI on different vehicles for about 14yrs now. The only problem I had with installing on my 2017 was tightening a brace below a bracket instead of above so the hood would close all the way and the protective plates around the filter not get in the way.
