  1. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
Sorry for not updating earlier but I did not have a solution for my problem which was: The dampening of the Bilsteins I tried (5125 and 5150) was definitely way too soft. I finally got a solution today. I installed a pair of Sway-A-Way Race Runner Emulsion 2.5 (part # 56000-406) and... Boy, they...
  2. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
After having mounted a set of Bilstein 5150s and another set of 5125s, I have had lots of swinging on bumps from my rear suspension. Although a 255/70 valving is recommended for rear suspension on full size SUVs, it is definitely too soft for our Madas. I think it has to do with the geometry of...
  3. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
A year and a half and 25k miles later, I'm replacing my Bilsteins 5150. They were riding great at the beginning but I have treated them pretty bad doing some heavy duty off roading and now they're gone. I think the valving is not appropriate for the kind of treatment I inflicted on them. Now...
  4. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
Not really. They have 2 shocks in the 5100s series with the right specs but not the right mounts. My setup needed some fitting work as you can see in my earlier posts in this thread.
  5. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
Definitely not. Collapsed/extended lengths are around 12" and 18".
  6. Removal of front sway bar?

    Exterior Mods
Hey man, thanks for the warning about the exhaust. I see in your sig you beat me at front bumper replacements (I'm only at 2) but I beat you at end links. :o Check out the ARB winch bumper here http://arbusa.com/uploads/PDF/newProductAdvice/1-21-09titan_media.pdf. Make sure you read all the...
  7. No acceleration when pressing gas pedal

    Problems
I had a very similar issue not long ago but without any DTC. It turned out that the ABS actuator harness connector was full of dust. Once cleaned, the problem disappeared. But as I said, in my case there was no DTC.

Yeah, that's what I think too. I'm just interested to see if there's a sustainable way to get an extra 1" or 2" for a 3-4" total. I know in the front I just need UCAs and, as PRG sells such setups, I guess it should be reliable. It's just the rear I'm worried about. Paul

Hey Efrem, Your setup raises interest and plenty of questions :). When you say it was hard, you mean putting everything back without compressing the coil spring? Or did you compress it? What did you do with the brake lines? How about alignment, any issue there? Also, how long have you been...
  10. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
I have been riding those Bilstein 5150s for more than 2k miles and they ride great. I don't feel as much a difference as with the front ones as I don't sit in the rear :D. Yet, it is very noticeable, specially off-road where it used to be swingy. Paul
  11. Extended Brake Lines

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
Thanks. I guess I'll stay with what I have for now but in case I want to get more lift I know what to get. BTW, I measured the stock lines and they are 16" front and 14"rear. So, getting front lines for the rear would be like 2" extended. Paul

Did you put a Daystar spacer at each end of the coil spring? I was wondering if that would hold in place. Did you do anything at the top end to ensure it won't be moving or does it fit in the bucket perfectly? Paul
  13. Trans gets hot

    Engine/Drivetrain
And you can also get it machined for a temp sensor which (along with a gauge) will help you monitor your temperature more precisely. http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=arm_pml_tranny Paul

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
BTW, if you want smaller spacers just for the rear, Daystar makes 1" coil spring spacers for 40 bucks. http://www.autoanything.com/suspension-systems/61A2933A0A0A3231285.aspx Paul
  15. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
Thanks man. That's it, I'm done! Will be driving some miles on and off road in the next couple of days and see how it feels. Paul
  16. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
I'm almost there. It took me more than expected to drill as I had trouble finding a 5/8" drill bit reduced to 1/2" to fit in a regular driller. On top of that, because of the fuel pipe on the driver side, I needed an angle driller for one of the holes. Anyway, I'm now done drilling and painting...
  17. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
I started working on the install yesterday night. I hope I can finish it tonight. I could knock off with a hammer and chisel both upper nuts (circled in red in attached pic). For the lower nut, the little piece of steel welded to hold it must be removed with gas. A guy helped me on that, he...
  18. Extended Brake Lines

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
Anybody knows where to get extended brake lines? My rear brake lines look pretty tight at droop and I'd like to get extended ones to be able to lift the truck a little more.
  19. Fitting Bilstein 5100s Rear Shocks

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
The Bilstein would replace the air shock in your case so you would loose the auto leveling feature.

    Suspension/Tires/Brakes
Not yet man. Which coils are you talking about? The front coilover shocks? I have the ride adjustable Bilstein 5100 installed there.
