Hello, everyone. Thanks in advance for your help. I stumbled upon this site before I bought my Armada and it has been great. I do have an issue though. I have found some threads about the aftermarket DVD player that say different things. I am trying to narrow it down to people who actually have an '05 model year and had an aftermarket DVD player installed. Here is where I need help...

1. Is it true that you had to have some sort of attachment bar added to hold the DVD player up? If so, where did you get it and how much was it to install?

2. I have a silver Armada and I bought the Myron and Davis screen (thanks to people on this forum), but there are conflicting reports of the correct color. I saw on here that someone said Med Gray, so I went and bought that, and then last night I saw Steel is the right color.

3. How much was the install for the screen and dvd player? I want to make sure I am not getting ripped off, as I don't really know alot about the hook up.

Sorry about the long first post, but I appreciate your help.... :)

If you're getting the M&D it should just replace the factory drop down storage bin. That "metal bar" was a solution to the vibration some people were getting. I don't think Nissan will fix the vibration issue for you if you did it aftermarket, but a member have reported buying the bracket from Nissan and putting it in themself.

The bracket wasn't there for '04 but I believe it was standard in '05. ;)

Install should be about $50-$100 an hour, depending on the shop, your area, warranties, etc. Probably a 1-2 hour job.

Its warrenttied...

Just take it into a Nissan dealer and it is covered by warrenty, only with in your warrenty period though... Or you can do it yourself which isnt that hard, just time consuming...

Thanks, everyone for your help. I was hoping to get a different answer and my brand new $40K vehicle would have this $100 piece of metal. Oh well...I am surprised there are not more people who have had this done. I was looking for a few more experiences. Oh well...thanks again.

You need the '04 TSB Bracket

Trust me, if your '05 has a sunroof and was built like mine you need it, but ONLY IF YOU HAVE A SUNROOF. I pulled the part number off the TSB (sorry I don't have it with me) my dealer charged me 60 bucks for the bracket.

The rivnuts described in the TSB are already in place but they also come with the bracket.

Installation is no big deal, the same 4 bolts (locations) that hold the overhead in place also hold the bracket. Two new bolts are provided with the bracket.

Without the bracket the entire overhead including the headliner had a serious harmonic vibration. Subsequently the M&D rattles and the screen vibrates so bad it looks blurrey.

Could your installer fabricate a brace that works, sure, it might even be better than the factory fix but why risk it. It took two days to get the engineered brace that fit like a glove.

I installed the larger M&D and it was 650 for the kit that included the headsets and a crappy FM modulator tha I didn't use, plus 60 for the bracket and my installer put it in for free since I warned him about it BEFORE he tried the intall the first time. The bracket intalled in about 10 minutes even with the screen already in place very eaisley so you can try it without first.

Are you asking about vibration from your screen or the dvd player?

No, but I got mine free from the dealer as they were atoning from previous sins and felt guilty charging. We had agreed that I'd buy the bracket for $100 and they install it but at the end of the day they just did it.
