1498 miles and my trans and transfer case are gone.
So I'm leaving the Infinity lot after finding some front splash guards. All is good thinking "man what a score 34 bucks" I'm jazzed. Go to start the truck and put it in drive and the engine dies. Hmmmm.........Try it again, same thing. WTF!!!!! my little voice is saying. This cant be. I'm basking in the aroma of new car smell while I sit in a 40k door stop! Right across the street sits a Nissan dealership. I walk over there and explain my plight. These guys were awesome, within ten minutes they had a tech. come over with his diagnostic box and go to work. Does the same thing for him. I'm watching his reaction to the problem and the little voice pops up "your so screwed". "Never seen this happen before" he says, all the while the prospect of my driving it home today is sublimating (to screwed now to even consider an intermediary state of screwed). So we go in, do the paper work thing and he says we'll give you a call when we know something. Well I just got the call. Apparently my tranny and tranfer case, with a whole 1498 miles are dead. He attributed this to the TCM (transmission control module) misbehaving and to my understanding caused the drive line to commit Hari-Kari. Oh well such is life. I'm ok with the set back, probably ok'er than I should be but whatcha gonna do? The only thing I demand is they cover the expense of the rental. Midlife does have its rewards and one of those is having the maturity to not sweat what you can't change. It'll be fixed and we'll move on.
Cheers,
Bill
