2005 Armada DVD Install Help

Hello all!

We just purchase a new 2005 Armada without the DVD player. Now the wife is going to kill me if I don't get one installed ASAP.

I do these things myself and saw a rather good thread about installing a system in a 2004 (on this forum). Sigh - Alas, I found a wiring harness under the shifter console but there were either wires missing, or the color associations have changed - the same color wires weren't present.

Sooooo - a couple of questions:

1) Anyone have a 2005 wiring diagram that would work with this install?
2) Does the roof console have the other 1/2 of the wiring needed to hookup the monitor or will I have to run my own video wires?
3) Does anyone have a factory-installed DVD that could post a picture of where it is installed? I would like to try, as close as possible, to mimic how the factory would put on in....might not be possible, just curious.

Glad to see other owners! This is one sweet car that we've been looking at for over a year.

Thanks in advance!

Peetem (Pat)

PS- ok, I don't have the harness. There is a harness, but it's for something else - I got to looking at the other pictures and realized there might be two (2) harness' under there in the '04 - we only have one and that is on the right.

Anyone know how to wire this up without the harness?

Here is where I got all my info, don't know if it will pertain to an 05 though.

Scroll down and read.
Likely the wires aren't in the overhead and if they are they aren't much good to you. When you buy a monitor it will come with the video and power cables that you will run to your player. It you don't have the wiring harness you can add the wires to the harness behind the HU. If you look at the kind of pins that are on the harness at the HU you might find something similiar that you can use at a computer store. Else you can order the DVD subharness and steal the wires out of that I believe. Hooking it to the AUX isn't a good option as it doesn't send audio to the rear controls so you won't be able to use the factory wireless hedphone transmitter. Which by the way works with just about any wireless IR headphone. Another option is to get the PAC AAINIS auxiliary input. It plugs into the satelite prewire so you won't be able to add factory sat but it will give you 2 inputs. But then the driver will have to listen to CD I believe if the rear is listening to the DVD...I don't believe you can have both FM or AM and the aainis on at the same time. Best option is to try and add the wires to the harness behind the HU.

I would listen to Llajumpvid, he knows his stuff.
I took all the factory dvd equipment out of my armada. If you need the dvd player, screen or both just pm me. I think I saw somewhere on clubarmada that you can purchase the original harness if your mada doesn't already have it. I also have the bose radio with changer if needed.
Very Interested!
