2015 armada sounded like a blown tire

are you asking what this is (this is the compressor for the air suspension) or are you asking what could have caused it to turn on?

did the sound eventually stop or does it turn on all the time when the car is on?

It kicks on and off like normal. It's just really loud when it does happen. We were able to figure out last night what the part is. So at this point we are trying to figure out if it's fixable or if we will need to replace the whole compressor

if you want to upload a sound clip so those of us over the internet can hear what you hear, that would be helpful, but any kind of rattling sound is not good. did you wiggle the compressor and see if there are any loose bolts or if something got lodged in-between something to make the rattle? if your air suspension works well and you want to keep the setup, you should be able to find a salvage compressor if you dont want to spend the money on a new one. im sure there are videos online to show you how to replace if you want to go that way.

The noise that sounded like we blew a tire is what most worries us...there was a pop sound and then a sound like air coming out of something. Did we pop an air bag? Or could it be a hose that the air was coming out of? It still kicks on like it should and kicks off so I am assuming it "comes to pressure".

Its possible that an airbag blew, but you would have noticeable sag in the rear, and your compressor would be running constantly. I have heard stories of how loud the airbags are when they explode; they apparently sound like a gunshot.

Looking at that pic, the fitting for the air line towards the bottom looks like it blew out of the compressor housing.
