Purchased the Unavi unit for my 2017 Armada and am quite happy to have wireless Apple Car Play now. It works great! You do have to specify if you have the touch screen if/when ordering. I was going to Youtube it and do self-install, but ran out of time and took it to a specialist to put in.

I use the back button to force it to Car Play, but that's really only needed if I need to view A/C settings or something. (I hit Camera to do that and get the normal Nissan menu to work with from there.) You click the back when on a Nissan antiquated map, and you're back to Car Play. I don't need to pay for map upgrades. I'm ready to cancel XM, too. Voice audio also works great.

I see you have had it almost a month and I’ve been pondering about getting it .. Do u think it was a great upgrade from standard?

I have no regrets about the upgrade and canceled my Sirius XM. I'm delighted I splurged for the wireless version, and it is a treat to have my iPhone-like controls ready on the touchscreen now. I get the manufacturer unit by pressing the camera button and then using the regular controls. Usually, but not always - like while driving - I can return to carplay by pressing the back button. That does not always work, but I haven't read the manual! I miss seeing my AC temperature settings, but I prefer having Waze and such on the screen now.

I made the same upgrade recently to my '17 and in many ways wish I had done it sooner. Yes, get the wireless even though it often costs more. Having the choice to plug in or not is really nice especially when you're only doing quick trips. Plus, I'm hoping it also provides some future-proofing if/when phones aren't as "cable friendly." I also agree with sahpro's "cons" of not seeing some of the other settings without manually going back to the see the Nissan screens (volume, HVAC, etc). But, to me, the trade off to have the other functionality is worth it and you can still get to that stuff, it's not as direct.

Oh, there's also another function I haven't seen mentioned much but within the Unavi sound settings there is an equalizer. It was a nice little surprise and it does work to make some better sound adjustments than the stock Treble/Bass that even the Bose has.

To me, I love everything about my truck except for 2 things: 1. the tech and 2. the gas mileage. As for the latter, we all pretty much knew what we were getting into. Now that I updated the tech, I'm even more confident I'll have this truck for at least another 100K miles. And, yes, if you're remotely handy and good learning via YouTube, you can install it yourself... just take your time.

If you're truly on the fence, consider this a vote for getting it.

Wondering... have you figured out how to make the input volume match the regular volume? i can adjust fine, but it is alarming when switching between the inputs.
