After 3weeks of waiting for parts, the Dealer finally took the car in on Tues. for the replacment of the Valve Control and TCU. It took a whopping 6hours to replace (seems rather fast) handed over the keys, and assured me the problem was resolved. So.... I went on my merry way.

3/4s of the way home low and behold it was "shuttering" again. Same problem same gear. UGGGGGGG.... I confirmed it 3 more times and called the Service manager. They were a bit embarassed as I stated that this is unacceptable.

I brought the truck back on Wed and again drove these guys around. They felt the problem 3-4 times and just sat there scratching their heads saying "these drivetrains are soild, we never have issues with them like this." Their final response was that they are going to call Nissan and approve a $7K tranny replacment.

Stunned from the quick decision they had made, I stood their wondering and a bit discourged over the entire experience. Should I just demand a new vehicle? Go into a fooking rage?? or just be cool?

The service mgr. said we do not want you to drive your Mada and therefore we are placing you in a rental. I said "umm, ok" and went along with "or just be cool" option for now.

I'm going to keep on this thing as im not going to wait another 3weeks.

Meatime, I will update you guys as I get more info.

I know it's annoying to have to deal with it, but at least it is getting dealt with. Sounds like your dealer is trying to make it right. I say give them a chance. Course, depends on the rental they gave you. Hope they got you something nice! Keith

Sounds like they are trying to do the right thing. I'd just be cool.
1. Trans is typically bulletproof. Basically you won the unlucky lottery and got the 1 in 1,000,000 bad one.
2. They are going to fix it for you and have tried it sounds to do the correct thing.
3. You can only "demand" a new SUV by using a lemon on it. Lemons are applied to unfixable vehicles. This sounds like they are fixing it for you.

Just chill and feel happy you will have less miles on your tranny. Also, I'd do 2 things.
One, bring it to another dealer for a second opinion.
Two, verify it isn't another drivetrain element giving you a problem like the transfer case. Doesn't sound like it if its only happening in one gear, but you never know. ;)

Trans UPDATE: 5-19-06

Finally got the call that they replaced the entire tranny yesterday so I arranged to pick up the truck after work. As you said 92TripleBlack, they did make all efforts to make this go away and that says alot for the service dept. They were somewhat quiet and did not say much except that they were very sure that it was fixed and I should not have any further troubles. I stayed cool and it now seems my trans troubles have faded for now.

Roadtest:
The first thing I took note of is that the truck is now shifting smoother than the day I drove it home. 2nd-3rd gear transition is flawless and all the other gears seem to go hardlly unnoticed. Second thing was that I noticed the x-mission temp gauge (at full vehicle temp) was reading much lower on the scale than it did before. All this said, I have def. come to the conculsion that this thing was damaged from the start

I truly hope this is the last of the "major" hick-ups on my '06 LE. At 2,800 I have hardly got to know this thing. I will however go on record saying that for those who are considering an '06, I would still recommend it.

that is all

I can just picture it now. That original transmission, fell of a forklift it the factory and the driver ran away like Bill Murray dropping the clubs in Caddyshack and running off the green when the reverend was struck by lightening....

yeah...exactly.
or it was a rainy Monday morning just after a long weekend of drinking and un-controlled drug use and the assembly tech decided to wrench in the 3rd gear parts laying around for a Sentra or a Quest.

game over.
