Has anyone removed the third row seats in a '17 or '18 'Mada? I do not like the fact that they do not fold down flat. It looks as though it is just a few anchor points with nuts on them to remove them and then disconnecting some wiring.

You have seen a new Armada where the seats do not fold down flat? You are going to need to take pictures to explain yourself better.

I'm also unsure as to what you think you would gain? Everything would become a major PITA to load from the rear after removing seats. No more sliding things in and out. You would have to crawl in to retrieve anything.

He is talking exactly about what is in your QX and my QX. The 3rd row and 2nd row do not fold flat.

The previous gen Armada (2016 and below) and QX (2012 and below) would fold flat. The 2nd row and 3rd row seats fold truly flat.

I guess it is because you have not owned any of the last gens to just quickly understand what he is saying. I know I miss having the seats fold like the previous gens did fold down. The way they fold in the new QX and the new Armada is not flat at all compared to what someone who has owned the previous gen is used to.

I think the problem is flat versus level.

Depending on the model, if you have electric seats, I think you will have problems if you could remove the seats.

Yep. Flat means all on the same plane. I understand the seats run on an incline up towards the front of the vehicle, but they are for all intents and purposes flat.

The third row seats are not flat, when folded down. They are at an incline. If you try and store anything on top of the seat is will work its way to the back of the vehicle! I think it is a terrible design flaw!

All I am asking is if anyone has removed them and what their experience was in doing so?

If the seats were removed it would seem that there would be a cubby hole left for storage, BUT you would have to build/fabricate a cover-lid to benefit from the deletion. I too would like to see the photos of others efforts. Woody

Some pictures from the music installation:
Without 3-rd row seats it is looking like on pictures.
So you have to do an extra panel incl. carpet to get a flat row.

Thanks for those photos. Looks like a project for this weekend. Did you have any issues with the wiring for the seats? What did you do with the wiring after the seta removal? This is just what I was looking for.

There are only 2 connectors that shall be removed- so no problem:)
I have use some clamp bands to fix them and prevent rattling.

Same problem here... 2021 Midnight Edition. when 3rd Row seats are pushed down, they are still at about a 20 degree incline

'21 SL here - manual 3rd row and they don't lay flat. Like you mention, they are around 10-15% incline. Does it make a difference whether the seats are manual or automatic? Do the automatic seats pull down any more - to lay any flatter?

No difference in incline on the 3rd row seats when folded “flat” in either manual or powered configurations.
