I'm looking at an Armada SL and the Sequoia Limited (both 2020). Both have all the features I will need but the Sequoia is way more expensive.

I've read the other threads but they are well over 5+ years old so I thought I'd ask again for some input on recent jumps to the Armada.

Your thoughts on the switch? Still happy?

tia...

Are you planning to tow at all?
I went from 5.7 Tundra to the Armada. I've pulled the same camper with both. The Armada is more stable, holds a gear, and has noticeably stronger power (likely due to the extra gear in the transmission) on steeper grades.

I regularly get 19-20mpg on the Armada with 1000% highway and no load. I NEVER got over 16mpg in the Tundra under any driving conditions. Towing with the Tundra I was right around 7mpg, Armada is consistently 9pmg towing.

I am and will always be a Toyota nut, I've had a plenty. But I am very impressed with the overall fit and finish of the Armada. If Toyota would update the Sequoia visually and mechanically I would be interested. The guts and powertrain of the Sequoia is almost 15 year old technology, this is a huge complaint in the Tundra community as well.

I went from a 2018 LX570 to a 2020 armada and i have to say, i like the way the armada drives better than the LX. There are some bells and whistles that the LX had that the Armanda doesnt, but not as many as i thought for that price difference. The LX was almost 50k more than the Armanda. The fit and finish seems at least comparable to the LX which also surprised me.
Overall, very happy with the armada but im also only 3k miles into it so i need some time to beat on it a bit...

I won't be towing and won't be doing any off-roading. I just like large vehicles

So after more research and dealing with a couple of Toyota dealers, I decided to shop Armada. Toyota is just too expensive and their dealers are dodgy. And you definitely get a whole lot more with Nissan.

My experience with Toyota dealers has been great from a service or customer service standpoint. I will say their sales staff will not budge on pricing and they will try to get every penny they can for add-ons. They're mighty proud of their high sellers (4runner, Tacoma, and Tundra) but I suppose they can be when they still manage to sell every available vehicle every year. Demand is high for Toyotas and the sales staff knows it.

Yes I would restate my sentiment the way you put it. I actually had two good experiences with a Toy dealer 15 years back.. They do seem to have gotten stingy as of late though.

And you're right about getting every penny. With Sequoia, all trim levels come standard with floor mats. But every dealer will tell you they don't. It's a standard feature listed on Toy's site. I then contacted Toyota and they confirmed that anything marked as standard comes with the vehicle. Case closed. Yet the dealers are so used to their own BS they forget that it's BS lol. Sequoia is the only model that comes with mats in all trims. 4Runner has 2 trims and Land Cruiser has 1 trim that are standard... I believe. Imagine paying $85K for a vehicle and not including the floor mats.. CHEAAAAP!

I'm going Armada because even Toyota has had lots of recalls and defects in the last few years. Sad but true. But Nissan has the same or even less. So why not get more vehicle and pay less with NIssan?

Completely agree. Toyota has it's issues with the 5.7 that they've done nothing to fix at the manufacturing level. Look up the "cam tower leak" on the 5.7. Guys have had their engine pulled apart and sealed back up, only to have the issue again in 50k miles. I owned a Tundra and was very active on the Tundra forum for about 3 years, I saw a lot of issues. They've got their electronic issues as well, basically the same thing the Armada has going on with the bumper sensors and associated sub-systems.

Every brand has their issues. And every brand has their rare success stories too, my sister has a 2016 suburban that's pushing 200k on just tires, brakes, and oil changes.
