Hey folks:

I thought my post went through but I am repeating my question here. I am considering purchasing some 22 inch Helo Skid rims with some nitto 420S 305/45/22 tires. After calling the manufacturer, I discovered that like most rims out there for the armada there is a gap b/n the rim and the shaft. In other words, this rim like most rims for the armada are lug centric not hub centric. Therefore all the load and torque is carried by the lug nuts. My previous experience with my VW Touareg and aftermarket rims was not good. I went to Discount tire and I had installed 20 inch TSW chrome rims. The rims looked great but over 70 mph there was an intolerable vibration. I went back to Discount tire and they reluctantly ordered some hubcentric rings that eliminated all vibration. According to the tech, hubcentric rims are better, safer, and distribute the load more evenly. My question to all my fellow armada brothers with aftermarket wheels is:
"did anyone buy any hubcentric rings for their aftermarket wheels?" Do you think this is necessary? Anyone have any vibration with lugcentric wheels?

although i have not put a set of wheels on an armada, i have installed 20s, 22s and 24s on titans, and they have the same hub bore as GM trucks (yukon, tahoe, sub, etc). so you can buy GM hub centric wheels (since the bolt pattern is the same) and this will eliminate the need for rings (which can break, they are just plastic). i work at a tire shop, so i have some experience with this, but like i said, i have yet to work on an armada, and mine has the rims that were on it when i got it (not for long). hope this helps some.

Nice model

Hey Norcal

Where did you get the new model? What year is it? I have an 8y/o and a 5 y/o model. They are high maintenance but they love the armada.
