Hey guys, I have a 2006 armada SE and every once in a while it seems the seat when I'm not sitting in it moves on its own a bit. Like it moves forward a bit and tilts forward a bit. Is this some auto feature that can be turned off or is my Armada haunted? haha

can you reproduce the issue every time or is it random?
do you hear the motor?
does it move the same length each time or that random?
are you the only owner?
if you are not, did you just buy it recently or have you had it a while?
if you have had it a while, have you done any electrical mods?
can you wiggle the seat to see if its loose?
do the seat controls still work properly despite this?

Hey Marctronixx! Thank you for the response.
The issue seems to be random or I just notice it when its been turned off for a longer period of time like say overnight.
No, I dont hear the motor at all and it doesn't do it while I'm driving or sitting in the seat.
I think it moves the same each time, mainly tilting the back seat portion completely straight up and down and maybe the entire seat moves an inch or two forward.
I am the only owner and the only one with keys unless someone were to go and grab the spare set from my room.
I got it around end of september 2019 with no electrical mods as of yet.
It does not seem to wiggle at all and the seat controls all seem to work properly.
Weird right?
On a different topic, are you in the Socal area? Thought I read a post somewhere were you mentioned that..I live in the Santa Clarita Valley

Thanks!

yup im down in the valley NoHo...

thanks for the answers. maybe your switch is faulty or has some debris in it causing intermittent movement of the seat? or maybe there is an issue with the wiring harness for the seat? i guess your passenger side does not do this?

Hi Marctronixx,
Sorry i was out of town over the weekend or i would have answered sooner. My pass seat does not do this. I thought it was some seat memory feature or something but I can't find a memory button anywhere. And it doesn't happen all the time either but it always goes back to what I'd assume was a default position from the factory. Nice to meet someone who still drives the first gen and who's close by! I got to the party a little late I'm afraid!

Are you using the same key fob to open the doors? Each fob can be set with seat positions so if one is set differently and you unlock the doors with that fob the seat will move to that preset position. Not sure if that's what you are describing but something to be aware of.

the fobs can be programmed to one person. that person can have seat preferences, radio preferences, etc. so when you unlock the door with the fob it should move the seats? ive never tested this over the years so cant confirm but it will STORE those seat settings per fob if you set it up..

Hey guys!
Marctronixx: I was so totally ignoring you Marc! Lol JK! I was thinking of upgrading to a later model armada like a 2010-2015 but I love how the older ones are compatible with all the titan stuff. Not sure if I should keep the 06' and put money into it or not. It has 200k on it but still seems like it runs strong. Plus I'm about to put my stereo system back into it after I last had my system in a car about 6 years ago in my 97' yukon and I heard if I went to the 08' plus years if would be much harder to intergrate my aftermarket kenwood. Is that true?

Crazy4trains: So when I bought my 'mada it didn't come with fobs so I had to buy a pair of them aftermarket and while I set them up for the doors I never set them up for the seat positions or even know if they can be set up for that or not.

Thanks all for the great info!

the 2008 and later years used a different headunit and a hard drive system for the gps and music storing options, so it may be some additional things you may have to deal with but im not sure 100% because I used the factory system in my 2008 at the time. but!!! there have been owners who have used 3rd party wiring harnesses to connect up aftermarket systems so you should still be able to do it. check out the audio/video section here on the website.

also there are some cats on here with 300K plus miles on their armadas -- this is a quality vehicle.

I've yet to take full use of all the features on my 2011 Platinum. I actual hate my auto driver position seat. Don't like this feature. It also has a mind of it own. Sometimes works and Not other times. So when it does work...and the seat starts moving back to let me out of the Beast. I interrupt/stop the motion and set it back to my driving position. Reason I do this, is when it goes into it's non working mood. I can reach the pedal. At the moment, I can't move the seat forward or back at all. All other movements work... then a few days from now it will start working again. So I just wait...LOL
