Well I've completed my upgrades to my Armada. I installed the Trueflow setup(filter and pipe) and A Gibson single swept side exhaust. It's too early to tell on how it runs or mpg that I will get. Burtman's delivery was prompt and his confirmation message with eta was appreciated. I found the Trueflow setup could be a little better. The coupler between the stock air and the tube is not a good fit. Trueflow should use a stepdown coupler(the tube opening is smaller than the airbox's) other wise it's not too noisy and I like the idea of getting air from outside and not under the hood. Install time was about .5 hour. The Gibson install took me about 2 hrs. The fit was pretty good and to me the sound is border line too loud, maybe I'm paying too much attention to it. I kept the stock exhaust and worse case scenario I'll get the stock muffler back on keeping the Gibson's y pipe, resonator and tail pipe. I'll update this in a bit to see If I get better gas mileage/performance(butt dyno)....:)

I have the same feeling on the True Flow Intake. The intake diameter seems to be a little smaller than the diameter on the stock air box and the coupler could have been designed a little better.
Anyway, the installation was pretty easy and the instructions were ok. :)
However, getting the air filter into the stock air box would be a pain since it was a tight fit. I hope I don't break the "hinges" on the other side of the air box.
Performance vice, I noticed a drop in the mpg (I mentioned on the other post in the section). Some members suggested that due to the ECU reset that I did. I will keep monitoring this for a few gas tanks.

How do you like your exhaust so far? I was thinking of getting it as well but the wifey does not like the loud noise. We had a bad experience on the Flow Master which I installed on my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee. Can I change the muffler and use the rest of the parts in order to have a quieter ride?

Cheers !!!

Well today I went to Bud's Mufflers here in Denver to get a resonator installed due to my pet peeve of drone in the cab. This was installed after the Gibson muffler near the end of the tailpipe. Now it exits out the back instead of the side. Much better. I feel I still have the benefit of the 3"pipes and a freerer flowing exhaust and yet I can only hear it an idle or under acceleration. Think I found the right combo for me. Again everybodies taste are different.

I agree, the Gibson SS may have been less "loud" when it was not with a air intake. I did my Injen first then the exhaust so I can not say. It's LOUD at 1500 - 2000 RPMs other than that it's great. Problem is, that RPM range is 60-70% of my driving.

How does the "fix" look?

How loud vs Stock vs old Gibson?

What size / brand resonator did you get?

Last question, do you feel like you have lost ant power after the "fix"?

Thanks, great info, I was looking at getting a bunch of sound deadening stuff to tone her down.

The sound is just about perfect for me with the resonator. It totally got rid of that drone between 1500-1900rpm. When you get on it you get a nice combination from the intake and exhaust,in no way is it annoying and it's just enough to know you did something to it. Bud's Mufflers did a great job..The resonator is an Imco brand. 18"s with a 3" inside diameter/4"outside diameter. they installed it after the tailpipe goes over the rear axel then straight out the back next to the tow hitch and used the stock Gibson tip. As far as I can tell I have lost no performance and if it did it's minor and as far as I'm concerned well worth it. They also painted it black so you actually have to be on your knees and look up into the rear end to see the resonator. Hope this helps. PS: I originally was going to get an exhaust tip resonator and the guy said that would hurt the flow. It starts as a 3" opening but closes down pretty good, some down to 2"s. As you probably noticed from the specs on my resonator it's still 3"s,same as the rest of the exhaust system. The Imco part number is 621813:)

I went to the Trueflow website, and the pictures of the Trueflow pipe look the same as the stock pipe. Is there really a difference?

Also, can you use a K & N filter instead of the Trueflow? (I already spent the $$ on a K & N).
