I am a prospective Armada buyer and was wondering if any one of you Armada owners had problems in parking in multi story parking structures. I am specially concerned about vertical height clearance. thanks

My salesman said that the vertical height is 6' 6". My underground parking at home is 7" so I don't have any problems. I did, however, have a problem finding parking when attending my appointment at the hospital when I noticed that their parking structure only accomodated vehicles with a vertical height of 6'. I am able to park in all the mall parking structures that I have visited so far. Other than the hospital, I haven't run into parking problems yet.

Hospital Parking

My wife works at a hospital and can't park in the underground parking either so has to get to work a little earlier to get a spot in the limited "covered" outdoor parking area.

Sort of funny thing

When I was buying my Armada, the dealer stored all the Armadas and Titans in a separate mulitlevel garage. When I got there, there was a brand new Titan wedged under a concrete over hang. The guy had just bought the Titan and totalled the whole top of it on the way out to go home. (How they got it in???)

By the way, the Titan looked higher than stock. It had somekind of lift and bigger wheels. 4X4

When I drove the Armada out, I had 2 people standing in front and side. I had 4" clearance.

But it stresses me out everytime I have to park in a structure. I think we need about 6'6" of clearance.

i've always wondered about this. since i got bigger rims & tires, i need to measure my clearance.

i've been fortunate to have enough clearance in the parking structures i've parked in.

aside from the obvious, is there any other way of properly measuring your exact clearance?

We fit in 7' clearance with our Armada, but not a lot of room to spare. I got out and looked before we passed under a support beam. Unfortuantely, it seems that sometimes clearance is not always what it is labelled. Go slowly and keep your eyes open. I won't try under 7'.

I just fit into a 83" touchless car wash yesterday, maybe had 6" of room.
I got a gift certificate to a nice local carwash and it allows all vehicle under 8". Unless you have a lot of mud, then they deny you service. They do a real good job especially when it is single digits outside.

We stayed at the Novatel Hotel in Mississauga Ontario over the weekend, and I was VERY worried when driving in their parking garage. But from the check-in desk, I spotted a black Armada on the roof, so I knew I'd make it.

The sign said clearance 6' 6", and man it was close! Take it SLOW over those speed bumps, I bet the roof rack might just hit if you bounced it too hard.

The thing that had me worried more than vertical clearance was whether we'd fit down their EXTREMELY narrow ramps. You have to make a 90 degree turn in about 15 feet to fit into the up / down ramps, and we cleared each side by a couple of inches. Thank GOD the Armada can turn on a dime! Six ramps to get up, six more to come down. It was an interesting evening.

We did a 6'4" this past weekend. Definitively, the minimum I will try. Just like 1" of clearance. It was pretty close...
