Does anyone know if we have an autolock feature when we put the beast in drive. I swear I set the Settings for autolock for 1 minute but nothing happens. I called the dealer and they want me to bring my SUV in. Does anyone know if I am doing the settings incorrectly?

As far as I know The Mada does not have this feature on it. There was a thread awhile back talking about this feature though and how most people thought it should have it though.

No such animal. Doesn't exist, at least in '04 and '05. Personally, I'm glad. I hate autolocks. PITA as you continually need to unlock them if you stop to let someone in/out, etc. As for undesirables, that's what my 40 cal is for. ;) You could buy an aftermarket module to do this if you really wanted too.

I'd say your .40 qualifies as your "aftermarket module"

I guess I am used to the feature on my Jeep Grand Cherokee which I have sold. I like the feature and wish it were on MADA. :(

Where did you set the settings by the way?
There aren't any settings to set that I'm aware of. Probably was setting the key fobs. Please correct me if I'm wrong as this is pure speculation. ;)

The option for this setting is found under the Vehicle Electronic Systems screen. It is the Auto Re-Lock Time feature. For example if I unlock the beast and it takes me more than the set time lets say 30 secs to get the beast open it will lock back up automatically. I guess i'm not sure if it auto relocks after you have driven the beast, shut it down and got out. And I know that the feature is not one that locks up once put in drive or after you get past a certain speed. Any how sounds like your urban assault vehicle is working as it was intended don't waste a trip to the stealer.

Oh, that auto relock. This doesn't operate when you start up the vehicle and drive away. Different lock feature. This one I like. If I hit unlock on the remote while its in my pocket, the mada will relock the doors if they haven't been opened after a period of time. This is useful. :D

autolock for stationary vehicle

I guess that clears it up. So what you are saying is that the autolock feature on the SETTINGS button is for the armada to lock itself after leaving the vehicle (if you forget)

I park my car in the garage and don't lock it. In the morning the car is not locked at all even though I have autolock set for 1 min.

Did I miss something?

Not quite. It relocks one that was unlocked remotely and not opened. If you don't lock it, it won't lock. If you open the door before it relocks, it won't lock. Again, good if you accidently hit the button to unlock it while keys are in your pocket. ;)

You are right on!

Thanks

Tried it as you described. Weird feature. Never heard of it before. Thanks for clarifying.

Those japs think of the strangest scenarios. I prefer the autolock feature when you go. Makes more sense.

Thanks again for the explanation.

What does an autolock feature when you go do for you. If you are carjacked, they point a gun at you through the window. Are you going to just drive away and laugh at them because the door lock is engaged? Seems like a false sense of security. On the opposite end, it is a PITA as you are constantly working the unlock feature to let people in and out if you all don't start or finish from the same destination. I hate it on rental cars I occasionally get. Kinda like the automatic seat belt from Ford. Junk.
