Banks System Installed In My Mada' (Pics)
Well, I finally got it done. After a test ride in the General Managers Armada at my Nissan dealership, I was sold. I was afraid it was going to be too loud based on threads in the Titan forums so I asked if I could get a test ride before I forked out the $595 which includes installation. The only difference from the managers Armada and mine is that I installed a 3" Chrome tip instead of the 5" tip that comes with the Banks system. I made sure my tip was not flared at the ends because you'd get the megaphone effect. The tip is also curled in on the very end. They custom bent 3" pipe to go over the rear independent suspension because the Banks was initially formed to go over the Titan's rear solid axle. Upon firing it up, it is surprisingly quiet. It does growl at ya' for a second when first started. At idle in the cabin, it's as quiet as stock. Outside, that 3" tip really tames the note. The managers 5" tip acts like a megaphone and intensified the loudness and is also VERY visually obnoxious to look at. It seems out of scale with the truck when looking at from behind and also the angle is too steep in which it has to point. It basically says "Look at me!!". Upon driving off, you can hear the banks muffler till about 1600 RPM, a slight drone is heard. It's not bad though for my taste. It's definately not as bad as my Mossy catback on my Alti. To me, it's very tolerable and not as loud as some may say in the Titan forums. I think the Titans bed acts as a speaker which intensifies the drone. In the Armada, it seems well insulated form the noise. Not that you can't hear it, you will hear drone, but again it not as bad as you would think. It goes away after 3000 RPM. Going up hill under load it comes back. I would love to get it dyno'd for you guys and gals but there isn't one less than an hour from me. Hope this all helps if your interested in one. **I will not be responsible if you install the Banks system and are not happy with the sound based on my assessment, so please understand and keep that in mind if you install the system and are not happy with the sound** This is solely my opinion on the Banks.
Check out the pics.
