Is it possible to convert the 2nd row captains seats on the Armada to the "bench seat"? It appears to only be a drop-in, in between the two captains chairs. The center console can be removed so it seems like it would be simple. Of course I cannot find such a part so any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Any updates on doing this? Did anyone find a good fitting seat? I love the center console 99% of the time, but the other 1% I need to get another person in.

I'm in the same boat... I was thinking of buying the center seat of the 2nd row bench seat and drop it in there. I probably have to remove the arm rests from the captain chairs to make it fit.

I've priced just the center seat with the 20% discount and it came out to be around $1700 (Ouch)... I'm still trying to find a better solution... before shell out that much $$$

I've checked out the links above... but the seat is for Ford, GMC, Chevy, etc... not for Armarda.

I've also been calling the wrecking yard... but they don't have any '04 Armada yet...

I originally wanted the captains but they only had a bench in stock so I took it. Now I'm glad. I usually don't need the extra seat but it has come in handy at least once every few weeks. And because it still has the fold down cup holders, etc. I don't miss the center console. Very happy I ended up with the bench after all.

Well, I wanted the bench seat but the damn (sorry) salesman told me that the LE doesn't come with the bench... I later found out otherwise! I called the dealer's manager a couple of days after I bought the truck to see if he can work something out... but he said that he couldn't do anything!

Well, it is my fault for not doing the research before buying the truck.

Where did you price this out at? The Nissan dealership or aftermarket? I have asked my dealer numerous times but he has not gotten back to me. Is it a simple drop in??

I just got my Armada, and have one problem with the second row bench...seems that the center seat in the bench doesn't recline very far back past straight up...is this normal?

Yes. Just replied to the other post with this. It doesn't recline, because the back pulls down to make a drink holder/armrest. ;)

See this is why Nissan Dealerships piss me off. They are so full of it. The first 3 dealerships all told me the same thing that the 2004 LE does NOT come with bench seats. I actually believed them until I made one final check at a 4th dealership. They had 100 Armada's on the lot and about 10 LE's had the 2nd row bench. So I bought it there.

Let me know if you put the bench seat in your Armada. I may be interested in purchasing your center counsole if you want ot sell to convert my to captin's chairs intsead of the bench. What color is your interior, maybe we can switch out my bench for your console!!! :schla24:

I finally got the local Nissan dealer to install the 2nd row center seat in my Armada... ($1280 for parts & labor).

Any mods required for the seats on either side (ie. removing armrests, etc)?

How'd you get the price down from $1700 they originally told you?

Bench Seats

Man that really sucks. The bench seat is really no extra charge. You get it for free when you buy the truck. It's amazing that when I go in to the Nissan dealer and ask questions. They are truly ignorant of their own product. Some salesmen, not all, but some will try to give you a bull**** answer to the simplest questions. This board has been a Godsend to me. I've learned so much. I'll be ready when I go get mine for sure.

Thanks folks.

Everything is just bolted in except the minor problem I describe below. (The carpet in the center between the 2nd row and 3rd row is slightly different, but does not cause any problem)

After removing the armrests, the technician discovered that there are two metal bars (one on each captain chair), where the armrests are attached to, were sticking out and preventing the backrest of center seat to recline flush with the captain chairs.

There were 2 options:
- Buy 2 seat brackets that are made for the bench seat. Take the chairs
apart and replace them with the new brackets. This is the right way of
doing it.

- Simply use a saw and cut them off. This means you could not put back the
armrests (unless you replace the seat brackets)

I chose to cut them off for many reasons:
- Cost of parts and labor
- Time (don't have to wait for the parts)
- Don't ever plan to put the armrests back
- If I ever want to put the armests back, I could always buy the new
brackets and replace them then (instead of now).

OK... here's the whole story regarding the price...the reasons that the whole job was $1280 instead of $1700 because I worked with a new parts manager. The old parts manager didn't even do any research. He is just throwing out a number and hoping that I'm not going through with it. He told me that the parts alone were going to cost me close to $2000 and he would give me 20% discount... plus the labor. Originally, I was going to do the installation myself to save the $$$$.

Anyhow, after waiting for a while and didn't hear anything from him. I did more searching... I called and sent emails to numerous wrecking yards to see if they have any Armadas in... but none of them did. I searched on the Net for aftermarket seats... and none was available for the Armada.

After a few months, I decided to call the same Nissan dealer. This time I spoke with a new parts manager. He's willing to work with me. He asked me to bring my Armada in so he can verify that it is doable. He took the center console apart to determine if there are pre-made holes for the seat mounting. He then verified the holes against another Armada on the lot that has the bench seat. Everything looked OK so he proceeded with parts ordering. The original quote was $1500... but I asked him to give me some discount. After talking to the dealer mamager, he was able to give me 10% discount. That brings it down to $1350. When I picked up the truck, he further reduced the labor to bring the total to $1280.
