Anyone with suggestions for OEM replacements for the factory 17" and 18" tire szes?? Also, how wide are the 17 and 18" rims?? (7.5/8.0/8.5)
The OEM replacement tires are Continental. Most here have upgraded to Michelin's Cross Terrain SUV for their stock rims.

Because of this board I replaced CCs (Crappy Contis) with Michelin X T because everyone said they were outstanding. They were wrong.

They are effin unbelievable. I went from shaking steering wheel and horrible ride to absolute heaven. I still cannot believe how good these tires are (also heard good things about BFGs).

Still some jumping around over certain bridge seams etc. but an unbelievable new ride.

The 18" rims are 18" wide. - Must be an 06 option!

Tirerack has the Michelins for $179 each. That would be $210 each shipped and mounted and balanced all in. ;)

I haven't, but then again, I didn't have it before. Remember, the stock tires don't balance well, so replacement will often fix the problem. ;)

Michelin makes the xt's in 305/50/20 now. Hmmmm....I was thinking of the Nitto's, but the Michelins sound great too. How are your terra grapplers wearing Triple? I've heard some complaints that the XT's (although rated at 60k) wear out quickly.

Haven't noticed wear after 7k of driving. The nubs ae gone though. I love them. I don't know about the Michelins. They are All Season and rated high by Tirerack. Cost is the same. All things being equal however, they are still French. Care for some Freedom Fries? ;)

Are the CC's discontinued at size P265/70R-18? tirerack has them in closeout and tires.com doesn't list them as an oem replacement.
-tom
They had them in closeout last year. I thought this year with the '06 they would put new shoes on but the CC are still there. Wonder if the demand from Nissan has been high enough to strain the aftermarket supply or if they really are going to discontinue and Nissan will start putting the crappy Badyears on they use on the Titans soon.

Tirerack.com finally added the Michelin Cross Terrain as a choice for the Armada 265/70SR18
$180 each, ouch...

When searching, you gotta click on the S rated tires for the choices to come up.

I bought the Mich XTerrains from Armerical's Tire Co. for $596 for one set before mount and balance. The store manager gave me $36 discount plus $50 rebate from Michelin for a total price of $510. I bought the tires on August 10, 2005.

I had BFG All Terrain T/A's 31" on my Toy truck. I hated them. They were good for noise, vibration, and drive on rocks that's it. May be I got a bad set.

The best thing I've done for the Armada was to get rid of the POS stock tires.

I had BFG T/A's on my 4Runner, noisy and wore out quick. This last set I had on were Bridgestone Duelers AT, outstanding tire, got 55k miles from them, 18k better than the BFG's. Just put on four 30.5 x 9.50 Bridgestone Revo AT's last week for $565 OTD. My trusty tire man; Ken of Ken's Tire in Livermore said they wear even better then the Dueler and expect 60k miles from them. I wish they made the Revo in 18". BTW if you want good prices and OUTSTANDING service look Ken up, he is the best. 4 wheels off, tires off, new tires on, tires balanced, wheels & tires put on truck, paid and pulling away, all in <40 min, wow! A fellow came in while I was there and said he was starting to get a vibration from the front end and thought one of the front tires he bought from Ken was out of balance. He was re-balanced and out of there in 10 minutes! Free flat repair, free rotation and free re-balancing anytime during the life of the tire.
