well, if it helps I bought a 2008 QX56 November 30, 2010, and the beast had it's original brand new Michelin tires on it, 275/60/20... now is November 8, 2011, and I'll tell you brother, they suck ***, honestly, I got my two rear tires eaten up on the outside of the tire, both..... honestly I don't like them at all, the front ones are still hanging in there, they are wearing out pretty even, I went and did a tire balance, alignment and rotation on it about a month ago because i notice one tire all ****ed up, but now, both of them are ****ed up, those are the rear ones.. anyways, I don't know what the deal is, you would expect more from a 220 dollar tire.. so there u go buddy, as for me, Michelin ain't that big of a deal, unless u buy the really expensive ones i guess.. right now looking at the cooper discoverer H/T plus tires, same size, they look nice and have pretty good reviews.. and since I work on a tire mold company I have worked on cooper molds and they look sweet and are really cared for, I remember I worked on them and they had to be perfect as they went out the factory for tire production, so they are a pretty good tire overall.. ohh and also check out the Toyo tires, match Michelin quality or even better, I've done them also, really good tires.. 100% guaranteed, just a little expensive though... good luck dude..
Wife's 2010 Armada came with same tires. 22k miles on them and I rotated between 5-7k.

Same feeling as you! Expensive tire, rides very well, good in snow, BUT SOFT!! Will be lucky to get 40k out of these.

Michelin LTX M/S is the BEST tire you can buy for ride and wear.....it is however one of the most expensive.......it is not a all terrain and it is not for serious off roading, it does however offer the best ride. There will be some out there who disagree but anyone(like myself) that is in the tire business(over 20 years) will tell you that EVERY manufacturer makes a tire trying to compete with the LTX. There are some posts talking about uneven wear and edge wear those are NOT tire issues they are alignment issues! If you can swallow the price(it is a big pill to swallow)Micheln guarantees the ride and customer satisfaction. I have NEVER had a customer complaint on these tires! BTW the Cross Terrain is actually rated higher by Michelin but doesn't seem to last nearly as long as the LTX! Everyone who buys the LTX swears they will never go back to any other tire! Just some info from my experience hope this helps
You are very correct about the LTX. Long time friend is tire wholesaler. Also very true about uneaven wear and alignment.

Mine have worn evenly, just to quickly for me!! Michelin makes one of the best tires you can find. But the premium paid may outweight the "next" best tire at say 30-40% less expense. Competiton from some "off" brands has become rather stiff giving us consumers some very viable options.
