Big Problem with 04 Armada!

3923 Views 21 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  scott
I have an 04 manufactured in August. I have 10,500 miles and have had no problems until now. When you start the car the gauges flutter for about 5 secounds, the a/c does not work, you cannot shift the gear shift, and the remote on the rear view mirror does not shut or open the garage door. I am taking it to the dealer on Monday, just wondering if anyone else as had this problem

Sounds like an ECM problem. If you cant shift it out of park, that means the safety mechanism is not disengaging. There is just too much going on with different types of sub-systems for it not to be the ECM. Good luck anyhow, and keep us posted on what they found.
Wow, that's a wild one! I have an 04 and have not heard of anything like that....maybe a body control computer gone berserk.
Sounds like a bad ECU or loose harness. The dealer popping a new one in should fix this. Not a common problem. First one I've heard of unlike the brakes. ;)
As usual I think TB has the best guess. Had a similar issue in a honda once and it turned out to be a weak alternator that eventually died and had to be replaced.

we are all American ;) LOL
Just picked the car up from the dealer. It was a 10 amp fuse, boy did I fill stupid. I check the fuses before I took it in. The work order states voluntary service campaign BCM sub-harness (no parts at this time), not sure what that means. I'm just glad to get the car back. :)

there is a recall for the BCM Harness, just make sure they ordered the parts for you :)

Play nice now, don't tease the other children.
But why did the fuse blow...hmmm?

If you can get us the number or which fuse it is, I can trace the schematic and see what probable thing could have caused the fuse to blow.
But you must be relieved right now.

MAN I NEED A COPY OF THE WIRING SCHEMATICS FOR THE MADA, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE A COPY. DAMN SORRY FOR ALL CAPS, BUT TOO MUCH TO RETYPE.
It was the IGN electronic parts 10A fuse.

I'm not sure how to pull the wiring diagrams out. It's a 300 MB file. Any specific area you need?

Can't tell from this description. How about describe where the fuse was. Even take a picture if you can. I just need to find out exactly which fuse so I can trace it back.
Still bring it in and have the dealer do a test on it. There is a reason the fuse blew and you don't want that to be left unattended. ;)

yes, specifically i need the wiring diagrams for the radion and dvd player so i can see where the power for the clock comes from. after i had the navi installed, my clock goes to 12:00 every time the engine comes on. it must have something to do with where they wired the navi into.
