Some brake info
A member of a QX56 board was wondering why there were no brake upgrades for the 05's. A person replied with (it seems) some insider-type information regarding the upcoming brake recall in April of 2005. Like all things, who knows if it's true but it's an interesting read anyway. Checkit:

"You are correct in stating that there was no brake upgrade. Nissan/Infiniti are aware of the Brake problems, and are set to implement a bigger brake caliper & rotor in early April 2005. This is the time that the line will start producing vehicles with the upgraded brakes. Then you will see a TSB for the thousands of owners of these and the Titans and Armadas. The engineers also found out that there was a problem with the proportioning valve in the Master cylinder, basically the fronts were doing to much of the braking. This has already been addressed, just waiting for the factory testing to conclude, and the suppliers to get ready for the thousands of rotors and calipers that will be needed once they go live with the upgrades. Hope this helps. "

I hope there is some truth to this. I'm starting to get the "Judder." I've got 2200 miles and production date of 09/04.

This brake issue is going to cost Nissan big time if they address it correctly. I wonder if they will. I know GM wouldn't and hasn't addressed brake issues on Suburbans and injectors on the Duramax Diesels. This is the type of situation why I decided to run from GM and go with either Toyota or Nissan. I hope Nissan chooses the high road. So far they seem to be owning up to the issues at hand. I think their dealer service dept.s will be the problem.

On another note... I bet some heads have rolled at Nissan due to some of the problems. This wasn't just a first year model roll-out for them. This was supposed to be the maiden voyage of a new way of doing business.
Time will tell.

Gotta go... I hear my daughters and son blasting Toby Keith's "The Angry American" upstairs.
I can't blame them but, it's a little too loud for "old dad."

I have hope that Nissan will live up to their name and replace our brakes. I've read a LOT of new cars and SUVs with simmilar problems, what is going on with the car industry?? Do they not test their brakes beforehand??

I did notice that the fronts leave double, sometimes triple the brake dust, figured it was just weight though...

Anyway, Nissan, don't make us pay for a fix that shouldn't have been needed!! 36K+ is TOO much to spend on a vehicle in the first place...

Just got off the phone with nissan1 bitching about all the crap my dealer is doing and asked about the brakes. She confirmed that Nissan has acknowledge the problem and is preparing a fix that should be out soon. I asked if it was a fix or just a bandaid like what is going on now. She said a fix and the current TSB(s) are just to keep the vehicles safe and driveable til this fix is out.....
