Oh, god please help us.okay, situattion is that I didn't drive my armada for a "whole week".When I did, the 2 back caliper were shut frozen.I took it to the dealer and still 2weeks later is in the shop.The stupid calipers are on back order.So, I called today thursday and they said maybe 2 more weeks.COME ON, it's 70 outside and I'm stuck with an 05 hyundai elantra, no air, no cd, no power, no sunroof ....... Okay, in other words what the H.LL 4 weeks to fix the brakes because nissan does not have them made yet. So, hopefully no one else has the same problem and goes thru this.

I did a search for calipers and found several online parts stores that carried the calipers. It doesn't make sense that the dealership does not have atleast one set of calipers in stock. I would recommend taking it to another Nissan dealership (the next closest one). If you don't mind me asking, what did you do to troubleshoot the brakes prior to taking it to the dealership? What year is your vehicle and how many miles (just to determine if your truck still has factory warranty).

Never heard of rear calipers having problems. This is the first time. Probably why they don't have any parts around. They don't go bad. To have both lock up is crazy. I doubt its the calipers if both are locked. Something else must be going on. Brakes are simple systems. Sounds like a line problem or maybe something in the master, but I would seriously doubt there being two locked rear calipers that need replacing unless the tech damaged them. You'd have the only two failures of hundreds of thousands on the road. Not good chances for that.

I found out that caliper was frozen shut 'cause the armada was not moving and when it move it felt that it was being pull back. the brake was smelling bad and the rims was hot to a touch after i drove it for about 5 miles. i took a piece of paper between the rotor and the caliper(once it was cold) and it was not going thru. it had 27K miles at the time and it is an 04.it was cover by warranty. now it has 37k miles and it's running like new.

Really strange. I wonder what made the caliper do that. Doesn't make sense. The calipers are just basically pliers or a vice that is squeezed when the system is pressurized and don't squeeze when it isn't. Sounds like either the system was stuck in a pressurized mode in the rear for some reason like a peace of debris clogged the line while it was under pressure and didn't allow it to depressurize once you released the brake pedal. I'd have the dealer flush the brake lines and change the fluid just to be sure.

if you use the e brake that may have caused the issue. the e brake is a cable system and over time those cables can get salt, snow, etc up in them and that stuff can turn into glue! when you release the e brake the cables may not have been fully releasing the parts that release the calipers causing them to keep the brakes pressed up against the rotor. 'tis a possibility....

The parking brake does not use the calipers. There is a small drum brake in the hub of the rotor for the parking brake. However, the parking brake could be stuck, or not released.

I'm currently having this problem with my ebrakes. Every so often, my ebrakes do not disengage. Brake light will stay on, have to play with the ebrake for a bit, maybe turn the car off and on again then it will finally disengage. I live in San Diego so no salt or snow issues. Anyone have any suggestions. I have an 04 with 45K.

It doesn't have to be Salt and Snow. Anything can cause that. I'd check the Rear Drums inside the Rotors and Brake Lines to see if anything built up anywhere to causes any type of blockage or Corrosion.

Hey I live in SD and I usually take mine to Nasty-City to get it worked. They have not given me any problems just my brakes which have been changed 4x's so far since I got it. You just got to be firm with them because it is under warranty. I'll be taking it in soon too because the 04's windows crap out too. My drivers side goes up pauses and gets stuck. Oh well I need a day off>
