Where does it moun nad do you have to take off the factory tow hooks ( Yes I really need them, used them too)???

how much protection does this product offer to the lower bumper opening, Or would I be better off gettin a lower grille insert( really gotta protect the A/C condenser from stones and such)????

TIA

You remove the hooks when you install any bull bar, not just Westin.

It should protect against small stones, etc. However, remember it has LESS protection in an accident. The bar bends back causing damage to areas like the hood that would have sustained none during an accident. They are entirely made for looks, not function, but should give some small stone protection to the lower area, though not by design. A grille would work just as well or better vs. small stones. As a side note, I haven't heard anyone on this or any titan boards who had small stones/debris causing any damage due to the lower grille area being open. I would think it would be safe unless you follow other rigs close behind down gravel roads at high speeds.

I would also take into consideration how the bull bar can hinder the cooling and performance of the radiator, transmission fluid cooler(if applicable), etc. I looked at a picture of one installed on a titan and obstruction of the lower airdam may be questionable. Just a heads up and my .02 cents ofcoure, I'm 28 years old and I'm sure there are wiser folks in this forum. =P

I agree. Bull bar looks sharp. This is the reason you should get one.

Thanks for the info folks , i posted because I have had a stones punch through the A/C condenser on my dodge dakota and have had stones damage rads on two other vehicles. The Mada has a huge opening in the lower bumper, with the A/C condenser just screamin' out to be hit by road debris, or plugged with snow.

I'll probably just get a grille cover cause I want/need the tow hooks ( gotta pull the wife;) outa the snow drifts in our driveway).

I pulled a workers minivan out of my future back yard. The ground is basically sand and he turtled it where the pool goes. Yanked him about 100 yards over sandy ground. Worked great. Make sure you have a good tow rope. The "el cheapos" you get from most auto parts stores break really easily and then there's problems. The 10k lbs one for example really can pull about 4k and the 10k is a brief yank. I got a procomp one from 4wheelparts.com rated at 20k and believe me, this is a meaty sucker. ;) http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/prod...&man=PRO&parentProdline=SusAccPRO&expand=sub7

Believe me I Know all about yankin' on a tow strap to release imbedded vehicles. wet sticky snow can be worse worse than mud. Ive gone through my share of cheapy tow straps. I carry a 15k strap in the dog(doadge dakota) not that it'll do any good and need to get a good one for the 'Mada.

I was once pulled out of a sticky mess by a tow truck oly to have to yank him out after( do not traverse the back 40 of a clay field with worn out mudders) and he had a 50' piece of 2" braided poly rope, the kind tug boats use to tow barges. That make a great tow strap cause it has a 30% strech factor designed into the braid. but 50' is a little bulky
