Cat-back question

Hey all,

I have a question about cat-back kits; when you get a kit from, say Gibson, the kit should replace the y-pipe as well? Should this be true as well for the kit Magnaflow sells? It seems the Gibson pictures I've seen on the internet don't show a y-pipe  . Anyone got pics of it installed?

One other question, if I were to get the y-pipe replaced and get a Flowmaster installed, would that be equivalent to a "cat-back" exhaust?

Thanks

If you buy the catback system from Gibson, or a dealer selling the complete sysem, the Y pipe is included. If you go to some muffler shop they may tell you they are installing a catback system, when in reality they may install only the name brand muffler with the shops own bent pipes. I would buy only the complete system, from a known vendor, such as one of our sponsers.

The Magna Flow system does not include a Y pipe.

I think the Y pipe is the most critical part to replace; the stock one is not well made.

Even though the Gibson picture doesn't show the Y pipe, it is part of their system. I have the Gibson system installed; it is a quality system.
Get the Billy Boat. It oozes quality and sounds the best by far. it is expensive though.

Do you have this exhast, any picture of it installed?
No, I dont have it. I think thier web page has a picture of the pipes and you can see them all. Somebody posted sound clips on titantalk and a few that had it said it was really nice, no complaints at all.

From your post above I though you were speaking on a personal experience. Everything look good on a website. :D
No, everything doesnt look good on a website. Go look at pictures of all the cat backs you can find on the web and then tell me you cant see a better design or higher build quality in some over the others.

Some dont even show you picturs of thier system at all, or if they do, they are not complete pictures and they leave sections out.

The BB clearly has a sweet looking answer to the factorys Y pipe, and they use the top grade of stainless. I personally dont care to pay more money for top grade of stainless, but I like the rest of the system (sound and shape of pipes).
Buy the Borla

Yo armada brothers,

There is no question in my mind but the best cat back exhaust is the borla duals for the Armada. It's a quality product with slip fitment and better material. Uses existing mounting points and the system includes everything. I had mine installed for $75 at Meineke. Borla has a lifetime warranty and you can really see the quality when you inspect the exhaust welds and material used.

The only thing is the exhaust note is muted compared to other hillbilly setups but it still sounds low and impressive. You wont have to roll up your windows with the wife and kids in the car.

No doubt Borla is a quality product. The fit, sound, and performance I got from this and a K&N Air Charger is incredible.

Some pictures for those interested. http://www.cardomain.com/id/seoffroad1
