Does it still work with the remote if the infrared sensor on the N.I.C.E. is covered at the bottom? I'm wondering because there are input selector buttons on the bottom of the display that looks like it'
s covered with the monitor housing in your pics. I guess the remote works if you can select them on the remote and don't need to manually press them on the unit.
No everything can be controlled from the touchscreen. 1st I powered down by unpluging the unit instead of using the power button. Then we mounted the unit into the housing and wired the power cable to power up and down with the igniton ON/ACC. the unit powers up in the last state you were in. If you were in Nav mode it comes up in Nav mode, if you MP3 Player mode it comes up in MP3 Player mode. All of the setup, input selection, and route info is entered via the touchscreen.

I was wondering about the buttons on the bottom of the screen as well. How are you accessing them ? What about downloading your mp3 files ? I was told you need to take the screen up to your computer, plug in the cable and download directly from your computer. Tell me the truth about the unit....the shop doesnt seem to know what the truth is...
As far as downloading mp3 files, jpg's, and map information I routed a USB
cable down beneath the console which is tucked away and hidden behind the molding. So all I have to do is take my laptop out to the car, pull out the cable download my info and tuck it back into it's hidding place.

What did you use to "blend" the non-nav face benzel with the Nav housing?
We used a Dremel tool to cut the bezel so it was even with the Nav trim which leaves about a 1/4 inch gap between them. So I just stopped by the accessory shop and the guy brought out several peices of trim and we picked the piece that had the best fit and finish.
It works like a dream & I'm loving it.
