ALert!!

Has anyone read this yet. I read in autospies.com and confirmed with Consumer Reports that reliability is an issue with Nissan Armada amongst other models including Infinity QX56. This includes the 2006 model also. I am only a new member of this forum but that's not what I perceive from the satisfaction that I hear from y'all. HOwever the report is disturbing with no european companies making it to the top. Toyota is top ranked and not unexpected.

Consumer Reports is a crock. They have been a joke for years when reviewing cars. Just about every periodical has the Armada or Titan ranked in the top 2. They are only good for reviewing washing machines. BTW, Nissan Armada and Titan were ranked #1 in customer satisfaction. And there is no way they could have any data on the 2006 yet. Its only been out a month. As far as other years, the '04s had a bunch of problems, most fixed. Squeaks, rattles, etc. By '05 the only major complaints were the brake rotors and an AC setting. Again, Nissan fixed both these and they are fixed on the '06. I can't think of a single chronic problem with the Armada that Nissan hasn't fixed. In contrast, it took Toyota over 4years to fix their Sequoia and Tundra brakes which had identical issues. Took Nissan less than 2. And Toyota waited until the brake warranties expired for earlier customers leaving them out cold. Not nice. I wouldn't be surprised that CR rates according to advertising dollars like Money Mag does with Financial products.

I just read the review. They use past data to predict the future. With that in mind, they used '04 and '05 to predict '06. That makes no sense since the problems were fixed. :thumbdown

Do you know if there is a TSB fix for the AC setting?

RIGHT ON TRIPLEBLACK. I posted two consumer opinion reviews about the ouststanding qualities ofthe Armada which I believe did get posted with my purchase. I really think the Forum reflects the real truth about the Armada as one can see, better than 90% are pretty damn happy with their purchases. I really hate it when CR and Auto Tech critics use outdated info to write their marketing reports for Comsumer comparisons and purchasing strategy. :rrg:

Consumer Reports get their reliable records on the Armada from the readers, subsribers or the ones who support them. Their info is atleast one year behind.

If you listen to CR, then you let them make the decision on your purchase.

There is no other SUV, except the Armada. I bought this vehicle base on look, performance and reliability. I put 9,000 miles and no brake issue, yet. May be I'm lucky or unlucky. Honestly, I want the brake issue so I can get the new fix.

TripleBlack is right, CR is a joke.

You are right the Armada is a Joke. Thats why CR is right because all of the complaints that have been reported on the Armada to them. thats how they came about rating them so low..

Exqueese me?
What joke? What problems? Squeaks/ Rattles? Those were mostly fixed after the first year. Like all vehicles, the first year had a few minor bugs, nothing big. The only problem that lasted past the first year was the brake rotor issue. This took 18 months to fix. Now its fine and everyone is getting new ones and having no problems. GM, Ford, Toyota, etc. have all had brake problems. CR is a bunch of hacks. They also rated Ford next to last and put Honda Ridgeline up at the top. What a joke. They are a new truck and they are rating them tops in reliability? On what data? The answer is advertising dollars. There is no data for the Honda but they spend a lot for their new thing's advertising. Sorry, but that's two posts you've made that were just silly. :teeth:

And I see you got ripped off by GM. Good luck with that. Hope you don't blow a head gasket, like every other vortech has. Also hope you don't start having the same rotor issues, and that you like your resale value plummeting. Guess what, next year they come out with a new one. The early 80s look interior is gone. You'd be lucky to get half what you paid for it in resale by next fall. Good luck.
Here's a good read for what you are in for. Sorry you weren't smart enough to realize a first year vehicle, made by anyone, has problems. But Nissan has fixed theirs, GM hasn't. :moon:

It is always funny to hear people that are so opinionated when they don't really have a clue. How can you rate the Armada if you don't own one. It is like sportscasters who think they know so much about the game, but never have played the game. I played minor league baseball, so I speak form experience. Anyway, Consumer reports trashed my Durango's because of poor gas mileage, ( get a clue they are SUV's ) I never had any problems and I had a 1999 and a 2001. But according to CR they were horrible vehicles. I belonged to a Durango site and the first year 1998 did have some issues but after that it was great. There are many choices out there and we have the freedom to choose what we want to buy. I have cancelled my CR subscription long ago, but I am a very informed buyer and the Armada is the Best SUV I drove and I tested them all, I could afford them all and it was no contest. That is all the proof I need, if you disagree with your own ability to rate a vehicle then you probably need a film critic to tell you if the movie that you enjoyed was really worth watching, or that you were just an idiot for liking it and you should have known better. :boxing:

333, do you come here just to troll? Everyone is welcome here as long as they go by the guidelines. I just don't know why anyone would want to come to any forum just to troll and try to upset people. You don't have to own an Armada or any vehicle to be a member, but trolls aren't welcome here or at any other forum.

He had one and sold it for a Tahoe Z71. I'd still like him to post so he can give us insight into what went wrong and how the GM is, but at the same time, every single post has been negative and slamming the mada. Just a quick "it stinks" and then leaves. I ignored the first few but its just continual. If you don't like it, move on. Find a nice tahoe forum and post how stinky Armadas are. I'm sure they will welcome you.

consumer reports rates based on owner feedback

Consumer reports reliability rating are based on feedback from 800,000 questionaires that people like me and I suspect people on this forum have filled out in the past. They dont take any advertising dollars. The reality is that whether or not you agree with the outcome they rate all of the cars using the same criteria. The fact is that the 04 model was not reliable, the 05 was a little better and we will see with the 06. You have got to admit the interior uses possibly the cheapest plastic ever used in an interior. It scratches if you look at it wrong! I bought an 06 believing that the third year would be the best. It wont be until next year when the 06 survey is complete will we know how the relaiabilty stacks up vs the other SUV's. Personally there wasnt another 8 passenger SUV that drove as well and pulled a boat as well so it was an easy decision. I wont buy a GM vehicle since they are always in the shop and the Toyotas dont have big enough motors to tow serious boats :) :)

if you are happy w/ your Mada, who cares what CR says

I agree, but.................. hasn't it driven you crazy knowing that you have spent close to or more than 40K for a vehicle that had brake problems, etc.?

For us, this is going to be a huge purchase. We want to make the best, smartest decision we can. Money doesn't grow on trees in my back yard. We can't afford "buyers regret".

That is why I am reading this forum daily. Taking notes, and asking my husband a ton of questions. I honestly think that I am so much more informed now, than I was the first time we went to look at the Armada :fantastic

I'll not take CR word of advice on a vehicle purchase, washing machine maybe, but not a car. I'd much rather go to a forum and read up on personal experiences.

p.s. I always thought "trolls" were so much more comfortable under a bridge, than on a forum! ;)

I don't think I would sweat the brake problem anymore. If you get the 05' just make sure they apply the applicable TSB's before you take delivery. 06's I haven't heard or read any complaints yet. Buy with confidence!!!

You are absolutely right, money does not grow on trees and buying a car is almost like buying a house, its a big chunk of money. I do not regret buying the armada, I had my Armada for almost a year now, and I would thank this forum for all the help I got, on being informed and updated on any problems.
I paid for my Armada in full before i left the dealership, and I do not regret it one bit. I did not want any payments or even bother with that, but thats just me. I am not rich but I know my way around, and how to handle money.

Just like casinojames said buy with confidence. lol
