The reason I ask is because I am having a real hard time finding the Blaupunkt ME3. Every place I have ordered it from gets back to me and tells me it is sold out and in back order. If there is one that you know of and works well, please let me know.

Where do you plan to mount it? This player looks like it will only work mounted horizontal. Look for a slot load player those are typically horizontal/vertical mount capable but I'd ask the vendor to verify. the ME3 I can verify it can be mounted either way.

Yes, that is the first place I went too, I notice it had not shipped after 3 days so I called them and they told me it was back ordered. I also tried Midwestelectronics.com.

Good point, I did not think of that, and I am planning on mounting in inside the center console. Also I am going to be adding a monitor in the front and I want the kids to be able to watch a DVD and the wife to be able to watch TV, what will I need to do this?

Try Ebay, I got mine from there $95 shipped NIB. Also from what I"ve heard the ME3 is discontinued. Maybe check to see if Blaupunkt have a newer models.

I guess, the question is will the ME3 send out both signals (TV and play a DVD) at the same time so I can use a video switcher and send the DVD signal to the overhead monitor and the TV signal to the front monitor. You can only use one source at a time with the ME3, can't do both at the same time.

I'm going to eventually add a multimedia player that is a 200gig or larger 3.5" disk drive. It a pain in the butt changing disk for the kid and its so much nicer to just click the video to play...which I have the ability with my Armadaputer but I use that to play my XM through and hate to listen to Bambi II for the umpteenth time. Once I get the media player I'll be able to easily select a movie for the rear passengers while listening to XM or TV up front. If you aren't going to be using or needing the TV you might want to go the media player route. They aren't that much more than the DVD player. Just a suggestion. Just look for one that has a 12v option so you don't have to deal with a power inverter.

...but they are 2.5" disk drive (which about 100gig is the largest drive they have and they are more expensive than 3.5" drives) I can get a DVD down to about 250mb for reference on how many videos you can put on it. note the second link does not include the drive.
