Nope. First one I've heard of. One guy did complain about exhaust in the cabin. Maybe this was the culprit.

The Pathfinders or the (2.8, 3.0 and 3.3 Engines) from 87-96 where seriously plagued by this. Could happen between 50-100k on the ODO but it would happen. They finally got it right after 96. I had an 87, 92, 96 and 99.5. They all did it before 100k except the 99.5. I sold it with 110k and not a single issue. I hope this is not something that the Armada is going to be plagued by as well.

Ktwillis...

I have some questions about your exhaust leak:
-which manifold was it?
-was it cracked and if so...where or was it on the flange (gasket / loose bolt)?

I have an exhaust leak...can hear it readily when I accelerate next to another car where the sounds bounces off or along a freeway divider wall.

I crawled underneath the other night and saw condensate dripping down from where the left bank crossover pipe clamps onto the y-pipe. So I cinched the two nuts on the clamp about 1/16 of a turn. Just not sure if that was the place. I figured if condensate dripped readily from that spot, then exhaust gas under pressure certainly would too.

Let me know and thanks for posting!

I hear the same EXACT thing! Sound reflecting off a wall or other object on the right side.

My Driver side exhaust manifold cracked i didnt se exactly where but i was told it was at the flange. My titan has the same driver side leak.

So that makes three. Two cracked on the armada and now one on the titan.

You can hear it more so when cold. The dealer didnt check in fact the service writer couldent even tell at first. It got so bad i was embarrased to drive it.

What sucks is this will happen again unless they change the design.

Because of the poor quality of the factory exhaust maifolds i looked into after market headers. They informed me that it would void my warranty
(BullSHXXt).

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))
This federal law regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of this law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or corporate name (such as the vehicle makers brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty. Further, consumers are advised to be aware of any specific terms or conditions stated in the warranty which may result in its being voided. The law states in relevant part:
“No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name....” (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

I have talked to nissan customer relations every time i have an issue. Im very dissapointed with the level of service from the factory. The dealership rocks and always takes care of me ( carlos and rocky from dougles nissan ) but they are fighting a losing battle.

I was thinking of supercharging the armada and talked to stillen but thank goodness i didnt. Im sure nissan would have blamed the leak on the blower.

Well the fight isnt over!!!!!!!!!

Here is a pict of the armada. http://willy.lewdog.net/armada

Here we go again i have another exhaust leak on the armada. the fix lasted a whole week. So back to the dealer I Go...

Not doubting you man, but I've never heard of this before (on either this board or the sister board). I would think if this was a common problem (ie. defect), then nearly all of us would have it. Can you explain the exact symptoms which even made you look, and possibly some photos of what it looks like. It would be quite helpful for the other members.

Just took in the armada into the dealer and it was diagnossed as another exhaust manifold issue. This time its the pass side. Its pretty easy to hear an exhaust leak You hear it when you are under load ( or pressing the gas ).you can hear it more when next to a wall. This also has nothing to do with dealer workmanship its the design of the manifold. I dont have pict to show but i will try to get one when they replace the pass manifold.

QX56 with a bad manifold. I asked the dealer if it was common and the SA said that she had never heard of it being and issue.

What's interesting is that once they fixed the driver's side, they could then hear an exhaust leak on the passenger side.

Interestingly, the gasket is back-ordered for at least a few weeks. Perhaps they have been going through a fair amount of them.

Exhaust leak as well

I just had the PS exhaust manifold replaced as well. I love this truck but I'm up to 36 defects and counting!!! I just had the sunroof glass, track and motor replaced and for the first time I can since I bought this thing I can drive on the freeway without the sunshade closed. The wind noise was unbearable....now whisper quiet.

You could always get a Yukon/Tahoe and have the cold "piston-slap serenade" which is MUCH more difficult to fix. I will gladly trade all the so-called "defects" that the Armada has to avoid that documented one any day.
