I'm changing the factory bose stereo to a kenwood kvy-817dvd. Has anyone got the factory dvd to turn on and work without the factory stereo. I want the rear overhead screen to work independently with the factory dvd. Anyhelp on how to turn it on and play would be much appreciated. :clueless:

I changed my factory head unit and from what I read here its a problem hooking up my rear screen I bought a myron davis 7.8" flip down monitor on ebay the unit I bought comes with a nissan bezel and fits in the same spot as the old factory rear dvd screen , it comes with its own connectors to rca plugs that I plugged into the back of my pioneer avic n2 system, it even has its own remote control and another spare video input.

You'll have to convert the factory wires to RCA wires and it should work.

There are some data wires and a couple extra power wires that the factory system has. I'm not aware of anyone being able to use the factory monitor without the factory DVD player. I'm sure it is somehow feasible but no one has of yet posted how to do it.
