Last week I finally justified the expense of geting the Big Tow Package option on my 05 SE 4x4. For my first ever tow, I towed a 12x6 enclosed UHAUL trailer. It had a maximum gross weight of 5000 pounds but im sure it I was closer to around 5500 pounds. The Beast handled it like it was nothing. The Uhaul did lower my mpg to 11.2.

If you are accurate on your figures and the weight is what you stated, that's not bad. If you talk to HONEST people who tow, even diesel p/u trucks don't get much better. I might see 12/13 with the same load in a diesel dually. That's at 70-75 with 4.10 gears, with 3.73s I might have seen 14/15. That's still not night and day over your figrures, when you consider that one is a comfortable SUV that can tow, and the other is a dedicated work/tow vehicle.

When you add up all the miles 99% of us tow, the $$ difference will be minimal. Enjoy

I'd have to agree- the Armada is a great tow vehicle. Recently I tested the full capabilities when I loaded my tandem axle 6x12 cargo trailer with 2 pallets of shingles. The trailer rates at 7000 max, but I was easily at around 9000 with all the materials in there. Luckily I only had a 2 mile trip to my house through some unpopulated backroads. The Lowe's guys were worried about if my Armada would tow that much. I took a test run lap around the parking lot, and the Armada handled the trailer with ease. We're rated to 9100, but the engine/tranny combo feel like they could handle more fairly easily.

Best SUV tow vehicle out there in my opinion.
