Hmm, i have this dont use it often(if ever) i heard its also works with the brakes so when it senses something closing in during emergency braking it'll help.
Not true. My Laser warning, which is different from my radar warnings, has saved me many times. The cop with laser is on the other side of a hill zapping cars in front of me. No line of sight but laser goes off. 1/2 mile later, there's the cop with the laser. Following a truck, laser goes off. Total block Line of site to the cop. The laser must have some residual light the detector picks up like a flashlight. Since its invisible to human eyes, I don't know what it sees so I can't say how, but it does work. Saved me twice last week. (BTW, I drove over 2000 miles this week.)dmarmada04le said:I think if you looked into how laser detectors and laser guns work you'd find that your laser detector didn't save you a single time. The laser is so narrow there is no way for it to detect anything until its too late, reflected laser light from a laser gun is nearly impossible to detect with a laser detector. Ive spent quite a bit of time developing laser technology and applications as a design engineer for both the private sector and government applications, and there is nothing in a consumer level $400 piece of consumer electronics (with about an $4.00 laser pickup device can do besides tell you "yup I've just been sighted, logged and if LEO wants to, ticketed".
Them Lexus been set mine off for the last few year.92TripleBlack said:The SmartCruise feature sets off the laser alarm on my Valentine One Radar/Laser detector.
1. Its annoying. I can't let someone using one of these tracking systems track off of me now.
2. Could potentially be dangerous. There are now laser jammers that work and are legal to own. A QX on cruise might be "blinded" by a jammer and get into a situation that it shouldn't be in. If you have the QX and use this feature, which is optional, be aware and stay alert.![]()
