I see that many people are getting 15% and 20% tinting on the front window. Does nyone know what the legal limit is? I assume it varies from state to state. I am trying to figure out how dark I can go before I become a target.

I'm pretty sure in Texas it's 30%.

To tag along with your question does anyone know how other states handle travelers through with tint legal in their home state but not in the state you are traveling through? I know Cali and either Kansas or Missiouri don't allow tint. I have friends in KC and one side of the City allows tint while the other doesn't???

Found out that in OR, the limit is 35%, but I am going for 20% anyway. I think that this is one of those things they hit you with if you piss 'em off. But if you are courteous, respectful and roll the window down before the cop approaches, most cops would ignore it. If I get a ticket, I will just have to spring for having it re-done.

No tint on windshield allowed in Utah, accept the top few inches, anything below that is a problem. Side driver and passenger windows, limited to 50%, rest of the car anything you want.

Good advice. If he pulled you over, you know he is coming to have a little conversation with you. Have your windows down.

I would add this: Anytime you get pulled over, keep your hands in plain sight on top of the steering wheel. If you get pulled over at night, turn on your interior lights so they have no problem seeing what's going on inside. A relaxed LEO is more prone to let you slide than one who feels you might be a threat right off the bat.
