I wouldn't say it's a problem, more a question. The owners man. says 28 gallons but when i fill up i've never been able to get more than 24. What gives?
Do you fill up when the light turns on? I most cars, the light turn on when there's 1-2 gallons left in the tank. To me, 24-28 gallons doesn't really mean anything...it still ends up to be $70 to fill up.

It's 28, you're just not running it dry enough. :D

I normally run mine for a little while after the light goes on, and even then I never get more than around 26 gallons. One time I did make 27.4, but that's a little close. lol

Lying gauge

So the light must come on w/ approximately 4 gallons left? I have never put more than 25 gallons in my truck and I have driven it until the gauge needle is well below the last line and the yellow light had been on.

Most of my driving is in a small town which would be a mix of city and country driving (55 mph roads). I'm lucky if I go 325 miles on a tank of gas averaging 14mpg, is that normal? I know the math works out but don't most vehicles let you use more gas in the tank before worrying you with 3 to 4 gallons left?

The needle hits zero with 4 gallons left. The light turns on at about 5 gallons left. ;)

Also, be aware that the fuel pump is cooled by the gas in the tank. If you run the tank very low, over time, the pump will wear quicker, and you are more likely to suck the crud up from the bottom of the tank. This will lead to an expensive fuel pump replacement and plenty of fuel filters.... Just my 2cents. The tank is 28 Gallons, but be happy to fill 25 gallons in it and save your fuel pump.

I do know it is 28 Gallons!

I do in fact know it is a 28 gallon tank. I know because I ran it completly dry and I coasted to the gas station in neutral. I was lucky I was in town and in the Mississippi Delta (Very Flat!).
