Help with price!

Hello fellow Armada lovers,

I've been in the market for a SUV for a year now. After seeing a commercial on the Xterra, Nissan caught my eye. I was first interested in Nissan vehicles because of the rugged image of the Xterra, however, after test driving it and seeing it in person, I realized that the car was too small for my fiancee, and my two dogs, and dare i say it... possible children in the future. At the dealership, I spotted the beautiful grey 2005 Armada LE.

I have a huge question to ask of you guys in regards to the price of a 2005 Armada LE. The sticker priced on this particular vehicle is 44,000 give or take (39,000 LE base price plus tech package and some other miscellaneous features). The salesperson told me he can probably take off 2,500 from the sticker price and an additional 2,000 cash back rebate. Do you guys think this is a good price since the 06 is coming out? If not, what do you think should be a good price for a 2005?

I will be putting down 10,000 and rest finance so I might consider the lower interest rate than the 2,000 cash back. What do you guys think?

I performed a search function on the forum regarding this question but it seemed that most of the pricing question is particular to the poster's situation. Thanks for everybody's time.

Go to www.Edmunds.com and imput your options, etc. and get the invoice price. You should be able to get this and the low financing easliy. I got mine for $46k and 2% financing out the door, taxes, tags, etc. Sticker was $48K. 6.5% taxes, registration, etc.
Thanks

Thanks Triple for the reply.. I checked out the website and it seems like the best price is 2000 off the sticker price out the door (including tax, licensing, etc.)

After reading some problems with people's car, I came to wonder somethings myself. Do you guys feel an Armada is a car you can keep 8+ years?

Thanks guys.
For you Costco members out there, going through Costco to buy cars is the way to go. You just go to Costco.com and fill out the vehicle request form, then a dealer rep calls you within 24 hours. Only certain dealers participate in the Costco program. The best part is that the pricing is predetermined - no haggling. For the Armada, it's $500 over invoice, and Costco requires that they show you the invoice. It's good to know what the Costco price will be so that you can use it to negotiate with non-Costco dealers.
I originally was going to buy a Sequoia through Costco. Because the trim level of the Sequoia I wanted was not available within 100 miles, we did a factory order - but the knucklehead dealer didn't ask for a deposit! He said check back in six weeks to see the status of the build. I'll bet he was pleased when I called him two weeks later to tell him I bought an Armada instead. I'm sure that Toyota dealer had no problem selling that 80's looking, underpowered SUV to some lame-o.

This late in the model year you should not have to pay anything over invoice. Just be firm.
wow!

Really? Can it go under the invoice? If so, what is a fair price for the 05 since the 06 is coming out in a month or so?
Well I'm not sure about 06 but I'll tell you this. I recently purchased an offroad Armada (04) model with 22k miles for 28K (including tax, registration, etc), and thats with options, leather, bose, sunroof, dvd. The dealership originally wanted 32K. What I found out in my search is that most dealerships have the MSRP and online pricing. Knowing about the online pricing is the key. The difference is between 4K to 7K. Having that knowledge before hand will help you figure where negotiation should start. I recalled asking a salesman why didn't they tell customers about the on line pricing and he plainly said because it cuts into his commission.

Yes, it can go below invoice. Dealer makes about $1200 on an invoice sale. A fair price would depend on options. What are you looking at?

I'd go for invoice and 2% or the cash back. ;)

I want the tech option, sun roof, floor mats, memory seat (not sure if this is stock)

That is all the options i really need. I would most likely get the 2000 cash back because after doing some calculations, it comes out to the same amount.
You can even get lower than invoice if the dealer is motivated enough. I bought mine on March 31 (last day of the month, quarter and fiscal year for Nissan). 2005 LE with Leather, Sirius radio, Floor and Cargo Mats and Rear Splash Guards. MSRP is around $37,000. Invoice was about $33,500. I paid $31,225. Plus I got the $1500 cash back, which brought it just under $30,000. I used my own financing (my credit union at 4.2%).
I can help...

I have a friend that runs a Nissan Dealership here in Maryland. If you want a real price and you are local, shoot me a private message. I am sure I can get you a better deal than Costco. This offer goes for anyone.

No haggle price for me was $400 under invoice (matched edmunds.com to the penny. Note that they won't budge on the destination charge, your discount just has to come out of another figure) + $150 parts certificate + $90 lifetime service rental. Thats "$640" bean counter dollars under invoice. That was end of March for an 05. Plus I took 2% 60 Mo financing from Nissan. I would find a few dealers that have what you want in stock (internet search dealer sites) and play some hardball for wayyyy under invoice. As 3blk notes, they are making some $$ even at invoice due various incentives and cash to dealer support.
I got $1000 UNDER invoice on a FULLY LOADED 2005 LE 4x4 (tech, DVD, etc, etc) plus the low interest rate (3% 60 months) just last month. Hold back is $1200. They still made a bit of profit. Damn them stealerships! :D
The selection for 05 models are not too many at this point. If you could find one on the dealer lot that you really like, you could get a really good deal out of it. In my case, the dealer has to do a trade with another dealer to get the Armada with the options that we wanted. We managed to get around $1000 below invoice. The stealer would not move down easily. You need to have a lot of patience and persistant.

Good Luck.

Is this with the 2000 rebate?

Yup. This is what I did. I went to carsdirect.com
I selected the model and options that I wanted and the web site will give me the net price with rebate. I managed to get the dealer to sell me the car lower than the net price on carsdirect.com. It came out to be around $1000 below invoice.

Hope this helps. :)

carsdirect.com sells your e-mail address to spammers.
I just put in an online offer to a dealership that's 40 miles from me (only one that would do internet apparently through edmunds.com). I want an '05 4X2 LE, Smoke, with Tech package, splash guards, floor mats, and bench back seat. I also said I wanted an upgrade to the warranty to 6 years/100,000 miles (on this site others said they got this). And, I said taxes and license included too. I offered $37,000 out the door. That's about $600 below invoice. I'll let you know what happens....

But, I can't find any info on the '06 and I'm really interested in waiting for it, but I don't know what the benefits would be to wait. Obviously, you lose a year on the '05 basically, though your mileage will be lower. Not sure what to do....
Sounds like right now you should be able to get $1000 under invoice and special financing rate or $1000 under invoice + $2000 incentive = $3000 under invoice
Our sales rep called us yesterday and told us he can give us 5,000 off the sticker.
This is even before we made any offers or told him the numbers we want. I am guessing they are real desperate to get them off their lots. Going to milk this guy this weekend :) Hope all goes well.
