the issue with chasing electrical issues is they can be intermittent in nature. you could have a sensor or wire to a sensor that loses continuity when its cold, for example, then when it warms up, it makes a good connection.

that p code references the VVT component. if you have swapped the part and you are sure the part is working properly (a new part can also be faulty) inspect the wiring harness in that location. trace the harness as far as you can to see if anything is amiss. sounds like youve thrown the kitchen sink to this car, save the wire harness, so maybe do some deep inspection of the harness.
