I have not been able to find any information on aftermarket equipment that will display average MPG, Distance to empty, etc. Does anyone know if this is available?

Nissan quest

My Nissan Quest 2000 had that feauture and it was very helpful. I do not know why the Armada does not have that as standard equipment. Aftermarket, I would think that would be a complicated install. I have not seen it for sale anywhere.
It comes with the tech package on the Armada.
For those without the Tech package, I was wondering what could be done.
It's a bumber they don't have this feature. This was very convenient on last 4 runner.

How about this, probably have to call them to see if the Armada is compatible.
Its a very integrated thing having to hook up to gas, speedo, etc. I don't know of aftermarets that would do it. I would look into NAV aftermarket setups like Alpine and Pioneer.

I'm not sure how accurate the DTE is. It appears to display the same number when the tank is filled no matter what the average fuel economy is. We just got back from a trip to Colorado towing our travel trailer, where we averaged around 11 mpg, according to the computer. Each time we filled the tank, the DTE said ~380 miles. My math is a bit rusty, but 28 X 11 = 308 miles, not 380.

I reviewed the gadget on thinkgeek (thanks dmarmada04le). It states that it is compatible with all 2004 and 2005 models and "No tools needed to install - plugs into the OBD-II diagnostic connector" This is sweet and it would be great if an aftermarket NAVI system would have this feature built in so I would only have to buy one product and it would be a cleaner look too. I'll check out some NAVI systems as 92TripleBlack suggested. If I find anything I'll post it.
Here's a link to the Scangauge info http://www.scangauge.com/faqs.htm
Its an interesting gadget for $130.00 and the color is right. Does anyone know where the connector is located on the Armada?

Not sure exactly how it is calculated. Maybe on a rolling average. I've had my DTE vary from 385-400 on a fillup. Are you resetting it after each fillup, maybe that will make a difference.

That math would only work if you ran out of gas at 308 miles since the tank holds 28 gal. You need to fill your tank up (normally around 24 gal. if your empty light is on) divide that by the miles you drove which would put you around 12 miles to the gal.
When your gas light comes on you still have about 7 gal. left as a buffer

I don't let it get so low that the light comes on. When towing, I fill up at 200 miles.

As asked in a previous post, I did not reset the calculation each time. It seems as though the DTE with a full tank is unrelated to your current average mileage. I'm not sure whether it is accurate as the tank gets lower, since I have no idea how many gallons are left in the tank (is 1/2 tank really 14 gallons? Probably not). I trust the trip odometer and the fuel gauge, and seldom look at the DTE.
