Hi, I'm a new member and I'm glad I found you.

I checked the history and there's no entries with my issue that I could find.

It has a camera with the older connector- 4 pin, white, yellow, black and red wires but there's no harness in the lift gate.

There's two major connectors coming out of the roof of the main body by the liftgate, one on each side, a smaller one too but probably not significant

I need to get from the camera to the proper connector, I'm good with splicing, I'd need color codes and pins please.

Can't find the two models' schematics , I'd need one of each to figure out the pins and cable colors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

just wanting some clarity here...

what trim model do you have? is this camera factory or aftermarket?
The camera came with the older lift gate, probably a 2010 SE, The main vehicle is a 2013 Platinum

There a mismatch for the wiring harness changed after 2010 so I'd need to splice wires anyway, I'd be happy to just get the camera working again, now when I go into reverse I get a black screen with the superimposed guide lines, just need a few wires to bridge the air gap.

I could really use the pin out of that camera connector and which overhead connector is the proper connector and what are the pins and wire color that correspond to the camera plug.

I've looked everywhere for a wiring diagram for the lift gate, I can't find anything

Thanks

does your current car have navigation? this has a little different wire harness than cars without navi.

the camera connects to the CCU which is behind the rear drivers side trunk finisher. you only see grid lines because the CCU is not connected.

i attached the AV service manual. around page 205-206 you will see the diagram for the camera into the CCU. this is th 2010 schematic.

THANKS!!!

Question , so I can see that off that camera plug that pin 1 is hot, 2 is ground, 3 and 4 are camera signal

Is there supposed to be that camera control unit in the tailgate? I'm looking all over for that unit, it must be part of what's missing?

Is it supposed to be in the driver's side rear panel in the cargo area? If so, I don't see it or even a cable bundle going there. Under the seats?

I don't have factory Nav, just the rear camera screen that comes up when I put the car in reverse, so I thought I just need to attach the camera to the wiring bundle that goes to the lift gate.

located behind luggage side finisher LH, I can't find online where to find this luggage side finisher to even look behind it.

means back drivers side side panel?

I figured it out I think, since this vehicle was a rescue, salvage title, the guys who found it and did the body work just must have pulled the original out when replacing the rear fender and never put back the old modules, must be why my rear sonar doesn't work either....... hmmmmm

I think the reason I couldn't find the CCU was because it's not there, it must not have made the switch after the accident by the body shop.
There's not even any cable ends to hook one up

Wait, there isn't one on the 2013 Armada, check this

It's got everything else but no Camera controller, I completely pulled out that side panel, there's nothing from the accident inside, it's all factory, there's the seat belt, the controller for the suspension and the controller for the sonar which also doesn't work but that's another day. There's no indication that a missing controller should be there, no cable connectors dangling or screw holes with no screws.

If there is a CCU in that year, it was never there.

I did however find an interesting box under the third row seating but it's probably the controller for those seats, they're electric driven.

I checked the vin and it came from the factory with a rear camera and the sautés screen goes to rear looking screen when in reverse so I'm thinking back to my original thought that I just need to build a jumper from the camera to the harness hanging down from the headliner.

I've searched all over for days trying to find a schematic but it's been impossible, the 2010 book was great but this 2013 is different.

I'm hoping someone here will have some resources that I don't........

so the camera needs the CCU regardless. the difference in your model year vs 2010 here is its now a part of the av unit.

you asked about the 2010 camera and the pin outs and thats what the service manual i listed is for.

you are correct in that the ccu is not back at the rear hatch area. if i were you id just get a 2013 camera from ebay rather than trying to splice and chase down wires.

Yes, I can get the proper one from ebay, but I'd need to get an entire lift gate harness as well because my lift gate is empty. Entire harnesses are expensive even on ebay, I thought that since I'd need to make my own jumper that i hoped the older camera could work, it depends on the format, could be composite, could be 720p HD, but I bet they're compatible so I'm just trying to figure out the plug that goes to the camera ccu coming out of the back headliner.

Also, found a diagram which illustrated where the CCU was, turns out it's forward of the sonar and suspension CCUs, more towards drivers side back door, I haven't looked yet but because I found the illustration after I buttoned it all back up, I went to all the trouble of pulling that panel and only looked where I thought it should be, ouch.

My plans are to look at the pin colors tomorrow after I find a book that has that year, it changed from the 2010 model I am so grateful to have now which also gave me the pin outs of the older camera I have installed at the moment.

then locate those colors at the headliner connector and I'm gold.

Any idea where I might find the 2013 AV Book? Thanks

Thanks Marctronixx!!! According to this book, there is no CCU, it just connects directly to the AV controller, good to know! It gives me the connector names and pins which is great, but identifying the connector locations is a bit of a chore. With a little more work I'm sure I'll be able to work it out and I'll post an update with info for the next person.

Thanks!🙏
