The attached link has a very good article about oil and appears to be written by someone who knows there stuff. I found this while doing a search to find out who makes the wal-mart brand super tech synthetic oil. It is a pretty long read but well worth the knowledge, imo. Has anyone used the super tech brand oil? Curious how it worked. I know you typically get what you pay for but at $11.00 for 5 quarts it's hard to pass up. This article says that super tech is quaker state in a different package. Anyway hope this is informative and helpful. Sorry, here it is.

Turns out that the Super Tech is actually purchased like all things Wal-Mart. They put out a target price and manufacturers work to get their product on the shelf for that price. With Walmart exposure, you can make lots even if your profit margin pre product is thin.

So Super Tech is made by the latest bidder (incl Quaker State, ExxonMobil, Havoline) and everything that I've read from folks who have used it or done an analysis says that it has turned out just fine.
