i believe the 04 and 05 armadas head unit is not capable of playing mp3s. to burn mp3s just start copying as DATA not music and it should play on any mp3 player capable.Blockhead said:hows that did you switch out the H.U. and if not how do you burn the MP3s or do you use the AUX jack i don't want to use the jack i want it all integrated looks like im going to by an 06 H.U. unless i can find out how to do it

Mp3 data disc would play but no sound and would not change tracks(bottom line doesn't work), CD's made from protected sound files from itunes play but do not display info. CD's made from true MP3 or WMA sound files will play and display properly formatted ID3 tags. Tinkering around a bit more some of my store bought CD's would display info and some would not(likely copy protection). Nonetheless the ones that did display any info would not "marquee" the titles they just show a static name for the selected track(boring). Although limited the stock HU isn't great but it isn't that bad either. In all I guess it just matters what's important for you!!
llajumpvid said:No 04 or 05 stock HU plays mp3's. The hu's will play burned CD's recorded as a audio CD. When you record a CD in audio format you will be lucky to get 20 songs on a disk. If it's recorded in a data format then you should be able to get 150-200 mp3s on a CD. So when you say your HU plays mp3's how many songs are on the disk?
There should be no reason why you can't get an 06 HU and put it in an earlier model. I don't have the 06 or 05 service manual but I highly doubt that they changed the wiring and the mp3 capability is an internal feature.
If you don't like running wires to the AUX jack (I don't either) take and splice into the wire behind the dash and put a jack in the plate located behind the shifter.
WMA's from napster are the protected version and you must use the burning program provided by napster to create CD's from your downloads. When burning CD's from plain old non-protected Mp3's I use Nero, however, since most of my music these days comes from Itunes I have to use there proprietery software to make CD's. For the most part I just use my IPOD. Not familiar with the players used with Napster but I can tell you the IPOD can be set to automatically update when connected to the computer and will play music stored on the device anytime you want.Djoker04 said:What Burner pgm do you use. If the MP3 is PAID for you can edit but I have never been able to burn WMA from Napster unless i paid for it. And I hate the fact that you have to dock your MP3 player to get your dwnlds REregistered. Your screwed if you are away for a week or two and all your songs are free dwnlds and do not have your laptop.
